Speedsters Rejoice: McLaren Races Across the Pond with Trophy America in 2025

In a revved-up announcement that’s sure to get motorsport enthusiasts’ engines going, McLaren Motorsport has dropped the green flag on its latest adrenaline-pumping venture – the McLaren Trophy America, set to burn rubber in 2025. This marks a thrilling expansion of the McLaren Trophy championship series, already a hit in Europe, to the land of the free and the home of the brave, highlighting McLaren’s dedication to spreading its racing legacy across the globe.

The all-new championship promises to be a gearhead’s dream, featuring the specially designed Artura Trophy race car, which boasts genetics shared with the highly praised McLaren Artura road car. This speed demon will be prepared by independent race teams, ensuring a lineup of cars that’s as diverse as it is dynamic. Not to be left in the pit lane, the McLaren 570S Trophy cars are also invited to join the starting grid, making for a competitive mix that caters to both amateur GT drivers and those with eyes on a professional racing career.

McLaren Trophy America is revving up to follow in the tire tracks of its European counterpart, focusing on the development of Pro-Am driver pairings, particularly spotlighting the Bronze driver. The announcement comes on the heels of a successful inaugural season for McLaren Trophy in 2023, where 17 cars vied for the championship, showcasing the brand’s dedication to the sport.

Under the hood of the Artura Trophy lies a beastly twin-turbo V6 engine, identical to its road-going sibling, ready to unleash 585PS of raw power. Paired with a chassis that prides itself on McLaren’s Carbon Lightweight Architecture (MCLA), it promises agility and resistance that could give GT3 cars a run for their money. The Artura Trophy is not just about breakneck speeds; its bespoke aerodynamic package, including a high-downforce rear wing, ensures it corners as sharply as it accelerates.

Accessibility and serviceability are at the heart of the Artura Trophy’s design, featuring an adjustable Bosch engine management system and inboard radiators, making it a dream for drivers of all skill levels and their teams. McLaren Customer Racing will support all cars in the series, ensuring that replacement parts and technical assistance are never more than a pit stop away.

Racers can look forward to strapping into high-performance tyres from Pirelli, bringing Formula 1-grade technology to the tracks of America. The championship also promises a paddock environment that’s as sociable as it is competitive, with the McLaren race centre offering a space for relaxation and networking.

The inaugural season is set to feature 10 races over 5 weekends, guaranteeing over four hours of track time at each event, including two 50-minute races with mandatory pit stops for driver changes. While the full race calendar is still under wraps, the anticipation is already building.

Mick McDonagh, Director of MSO and Motorsport at McLaren Automotive, shared his excitement, stating, “Following the successful debut of McLaren Trophy Europe in 2023, we are delighted to confirm the expansion with McLaren Trophy America in 2025. This move not only taps into McLaren Automotive’s largest market but also embraces the rich and diverse motorsport culture of the Americas.”

As McLaren Trophy America gears up to take the continent by storm, the motorsport world waits in eager anticipation for what promises to be a high-octane addition to McLaren’s illustrious racing legacy. Start your engines, America, the race is on!
