Tata Motors July 2026 CV Sales Jump 37%; International Business More Than Doubles

Mumbai: Tata Motors Limited reported a strong start to August’s sales-reporting cycle, with its commercial vehicle sales rising 37% year-on-year to 39,641 units in July 2026, compared with 28,956 units in July 2025, supported by double-digit growth across domestic segments and a sharp increase in international business.

Domestic commercial vehicle sales stood at 33,876 units, up 28% from 26,432 units in the corresponding month last year. International business provided an even bigger lift, with sales jumping 128% to 5,765 units, from 2,524 units in July 2025.

The numbers showed broad-based growth across Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle portfolio rather than dependence on a single category.

Heavy trucks lead domestic growth

Sales of HCV trucks increased 33% year-on-year to 8,973 units, against 6,735 units in July 2025.

ILMCV trucks recorded sales of 6,100 units, up 20% from 5,068 units a year earlier.

The company’s passenger carrier business grew 25%, with July sales reaching 5,938 units, compared with 4,749 units during the same month last year.

The largest domestic volume came from the SCV cargo and pickup category, where Tata Motors sold 12,865 units, a 30% increase over 9,880 units in July 2025.

In other words, July’s growth was not confined to the biggest trucks on the road; the smaller cargo vehicles also carried their share of the load.

International business surges 128%

Tata Motors’ international commercial vehicle business emerged as the fastest-growing component during the month. Sales more than doubled to 5,765 units, marking a 128% year-on-year increase from 2,524 units.

While international volumes remain considerably smaller than domestic sales, their sharp rise helped push the company’s overall commercial vehicle growth above the domestic growth rate.

MH&ICV sales rise 25% in domestic market

Tata Motors said domestic sales of MH&ICV vehicles stood at 15,435 units in July 2026, compared with 12,378 units in July 2025, representing growth of 25% year-on-year.

Combined domestic and international MH&ICV sales were 16,364 units, up 20% from 13,659 units in the corresponding month last year.

The July performance points to demand improvement across several parts of Tata Motors’ commercial vehicle business, from pickups and passenger carriers to heavy trucks. More importantly, the simultaneous rise in domestic and overseas volumes gives the month’s 37% headline growth a broader base — an encouraging signal for the commercial vehicle market as it moves further into the 2026-27 financial year.
