Mahindra Trucks & Buses Clock 3,011 Units in April 2026, Growth Rolls On Despite Industry Speed Bumps

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) has kicked off the new financial year with steady momentum in its commercial vehicle (CV) business, reporting total sales of 3,011 trucks and buses (above 3.5 tonnes) in April 2026. That’s an 11% year-on-year growth—proving that even in a cautious market, Mahindra’s heavy-duty ambitions are still very much in gear.

The company’s Trucks & Buses portfolio, which includes the Mahindra Trucks & Buses Division (MTBD) and SML Mahindra Limited (SML), continues to play a key role in strengthening its presence in India’s competitive CV segment. While passenger cars often grab the spotlight, it’s these workhorses quietly keeping the economy moving—sometimes literally carrying it on their backs.

Industry conditions, however, weren’t exactly a smooth highway in April. According to Vinod Sahay, Executive Chairman – SML and President overseeing Trucks, Buses, Aerospace and Advanced Technologies at M&M, the CV sector saw a temporary slowdown. Blame it on the usual suspects—financial year transition blues, inflationary pressures, and global geopolitical uncertainties making supply chains a bit more dramatic than a daily soap.

Sahay noted that Mahindra remains watchful of evolving risks, particularly rising input costs and potential disruptions in the supply chain, both of which could influence demand trends in the coming months. In simpler terms, while the trucks are rolling, the road ahead still demands careful navigation.

Despite these challenges, Mahindra’s April performance signals resilience and a measured optimism. If this is how the company starts the year, competitors might want to check their rear-view mirrors—because Mahindra’s CV division seems ready for a long haul, bumps and all.
