Mahindra Drives into FY27 with Momentum: 56,331 SUVs Sold in April, Total Volumes Rise 14%

Mumbai, May 01, 2026: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. has kicked off the new financial year with steady momentum, posting total auto sales of 94,627 units in April 2026 — a healthy 14% year-on-year growth. If the Indian auto market were a cricket match, Mahindra has walked in confidently and already found the boundary ropes.

The company’s bread-and-butter Utility Vehicles (UV) segment continued to do the heavy lifting. Mahindra recorded domestic SUV sales of 56,331 units, marking an 8% growth compared to the same period last year. Including exports, total UV sales stood at 57,833 units, reaffirming the brand’s stronghold in India’s ever-competitive SUV space.

Meanwhile, the Commercial Vehicles (CV) segment also contributed significantly, with domestic sales reaching 23,427 units in April. While SUVs may grab the spotlight, Mahindra’s CV lineup quietly keeps the business engine humming in the background.

Commenting on the performance, Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of the Automotive Division at M&M Ltd., noted that the company has started the financial year 2027 on a positive note. He highlighted that SUV sales of 56,331 units and total vehicle sales of 94,627 units reflect strong growth of 8% and 14% respectively over April last year.

The numbers suggest that Mahindra’s SUV strategy continues to resonate well with Indian buyers — whether it’s city commutes, highway runs, or the occasional “let’s see where this road goes” weekend plan. As FY27 gets underway, the automaker appears well-positioned to keep its growth engine running at full throttle.
