From Kylaq to Octavia RS: Škoda India’s G.O.A.T Campaign Goes Flat-Out on the Racetrack

Škoda Auto India has decided that “G.O.A.T” no longer stands for “Greatest of All Time.” Instead, the Czech carmaker now wants enthusiasts to think of it as “Greatest On A Track” — and to prove the point, it has gone racing with its entire lineup instead of just a single hero car.

Launching its latest brand campaign, Škoda Auto India has set an India and Asia Book of Records benchmark for the ‘Fastest Multi-Car Relay of a Single Manufacturer on a Circuit’, showcasing everything from the compact Kylaq SUV to the fire-breathing Octavia RS on the CoASTT circuit in Coimbatore.

And yes, this might be the first time an SUV relay has sounded more like a motorsport endurance event than a family road trip.

The campaign is built around Škoda’s deep motorsport roots, with the company celebrating 130 years of global heritage and 125 years in motorsport. The iconic RS badge, which first appeared on the legendary Škoda 130 RS in 1975, also plays a starring role in the brand’s latest performance-focused narrative.

Speaking about the initiative, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Škoda Auto India, said the company’s motorsport DNA is not limited to halo products but is embedded across the entire portfolio. According to him, the campaign celebrates qualities like steering precision, chassis balance, braking confidence and driver engagement — things that don’t always show up neatly in a brochure spec sheet but become obvious once you get behind the wheel.

To kick off the campaign, Škoda assembled a five-car fleet consisting of the Kylaq 1.0 AT, Kushaq 1.5 DSG, Slavia 1.5 DSG, Kodiaq Selection L&K and the Octavia RS. Each vehicle was driven consecutively in a timed relay with pit-lane driver swaps included in the total timing.

The fleet completed the challenge in 12 minutes and 30.97 seconds, officially making it the fastest multi-car relay by a single manufacturer in the country.

Interestingly, the smallest member of the lineup — the sub-4 metre Kylaq — clocked a respectable 2:31.6 lap time, proving that compact SUVs can indeed hustle when needed. The Kushaq followed with 2:29.7, while the Slavia sedan posted 2:27.63. The large seven-seat Kodiaq luxury SUV surprised many with a rapid 2:26.34 lap, leaving very little room for “but it’s heavy” excuses.

Then came the Octavia RS.

The performance sedan stormed around the 3.8 km circuit in 2:10.85, comfortably becoming the quickest car of the relay and reminding enthusiasts why the RS badge still enjoys cult status among driving fans.

Škoda says the exercise was not merely about setting lap records but also about demonstrating the real-world benefits of dynamic handling, braking stability and agility — qualities that contribute directly to safety and driver confidence on Indian roads.

Combined with five-star safety ratings achieved by various Škoda models in Indian and global crash tests, the company is positioning itself as a brand that blends speed with safety rather than treating them as separate conversations.

The campaign also aligns with Škoda Auto India’s broader differentiation strategy as the company continues expanding its dealership network and product range in the country. From turbo-petrol engines and DSG gearboxes to sharp chassis tuning and European driving dynamics, the automaker is doubling down on its enthusiast-friendly image in a market increasingly crowded with comfort-first SUVs.

And in classic Škoda fashion, the company has found a clever way to say it: if it’s a G.O.A.T on a track, chances are it’s wearing a Škoda badge.
