Kia India Announces Gwanggu Lee as New Managing Director & CEO

New Delhi, January 2, 2024 — Kia India, renowned for its premium automotive offerings, has marked the beginning of a new era with the appointment of Gwanggu Lee as its new Managing Director and CEO. Lee, succeeding the notable tenures of Kook Hyun Shim and Tae Jin Park, becomes the third person to helm the position in the company’s dynamic history in India.

The announcement follows the retirement of Tae Jin Park, who concluded a distinguished 36-year career with Kia Corporation, including a significant four-year leadership role at Kia India. Park’s tenure was marked by notable achievements and progress for the brand in the Indian market.

Gwanggu Lee, a veteran with over three decades of experience in the automotive industry, is set to lead Kia’s transformative journey in India. He brings a wealth of global experience, having held influential positions across several key markets, including the US, Canada, Italy, Mexico, and various leadership roles at Kia’s headquarters in Central and South America and Kia Europe Headquarters in Germany. His recent tenure as President of Kia Mexico was instrumental in establishing the brand as a significant player in production and export within the region.

Upon his appointment, Lee expressed enthusiasm about his new role, acknowledging Kia India’s rapid ascent as a beloved and trusted brand in a short span of four years. He emphasized his commitment to sustaining business growth through innovative products like the new Seltos and Sonet, and upcoming offerings. Lee’s vision is focused on enhancing the Kia brand experience, creating lasting value for customers, partners, and employees.

As Kia India enters this new chapter under Lee’s leadership, expectations are high for the continuation and expansion of the brand’s strong market presence in India. His extensive experience within the industry and with the brand positions him ideally to steer Kia India towards further success and innovation.
