Škoda Kodiaq 2024: A Bold Leap in Space, Sustainability, and Smart Driving

Mladá Boleslav – Škoda has launched the all-new second-generation Kodiaq SUV, pushing the boundaries of design, functionality, and eco-friendliness. This next-generation Kodiaq brings Škoda’s signature blend of spaciousness and innovation to the forefront, embodying the new Modern Solid design philosophy, which combines striking aesthetics with top-tier aerodynamics. The revamped Kodiaq comes packed with cutting-edge features, sustainable materials, and a powerful lineup of new powertrains, including Škoda’s first-ever plug-in hybrid engine with over 100 km of electric range. Here’s a closer look at the groundbreaking features of this flagship SUV and what they mean for future generations of Škoda vehicles.

Expansive Redesign: Inside and Out

At a glance, the second-generation Kodiaq stands out with a bold, robust look that remains practical and refined. The exterior boasts improved aerodynamics and an eye-catching grille framed by newly introduced LED Matrix beam headlights, providing greater visibility and safety. Revised front and rear bumpers enhance both the rugged appearance and vehicle stability, while a distinctive horizontal light strip gives the front grille a striking, futuristic look. At the rear, connected LED lights with animated indicators introduce a modern flair, solidifying the Kodiaq as a future-facing family SUV.

The interior is a masterpiece of minimalism, combining ample space, ergonomic design, and a new focus on sustainable materials. Recycled textiles and eco-friendly leather echo Škoda’s commitment to environmental responsibility, while the seven-seat configuration offers more room than ever for passengers and luggage. The Kodiaq is built with Škoda’s Design Selections, enabling customizable interior options to suit diverse preferences, from sleek and modern to sporty.

Infotainment and Smart Technology: A World of Connectivity

Škoda has taken in-car technology to a new level with an optional 13-inch infotainment display and a head-up display. Positioned prominently on the dashboard, this free-standing screen is easy to navigate, and its graphics are enhanced by a sleek, intuitive design. Paired with the 10-inch Virtual Cockpit, which includes new, customizable display options, the Kodiaq ensures drivers stay focused on the road while seamlessly accessing vital information.

Making its debut in the Kodiaq is Škoda’s Smart Dials system—a trio of haptic, multi-functional knobs below the infotainment screen that control key functions such as temperature, seat ventilation, and even map zoom. The dials’ digital display and customizable configurations allow the driver to quickly adjust settings without taking their eyes off the road. Škoda is also introducing the Laura voice assistant, which now integrates ChatGPT, providing enhanced conversational AI to assist with navigation, search, and vehicle settings, further enriching the driving experience.

The Kodiaq offers dual wireless charging capabilities within a ventilated Phone Box, capable of charging two smartphones simultaneously, providing passengers with continuous connectivity. Škoda also includes USB-C ports with 45-watt charging capacity throughout the cabin, ensuring even power-hungry devices like laptops stay charged on the go.

Expanded Powertrain Options: The Future of Hybrid Performance

Škoda has introduced a broader selection of powertrains in the new Kodiaq, including two diesel and two petrol engines, a plug-in hybrid, and for the first time, a mild-hybrid option. At the heart of the Kodiaq iV is a plug-in hybrid system with a powerful 150 kW (204 hp) output and an impressive electric range exceeding 100 km, making it ideal for emission-free commutes. The new 1.5 TSI mild-hybrid engine brings the benefits of hybrid technology at an accessible entry point, with improved efficiency and lower emissions. Both the top-tier 2.0 TSI petrol and the 2.0 TDI diesel engines come standard with all-wheel drive, delivering power seamlessly across diverse terrains.

The Kodiaq iV is equipped with regenerative braking, which harnesses energy typically lost during deceleration, sending it back to the battery. With the ability to reach an 80% charge in just 25 minutes, this plug-in hybrid delivers both convenience and eco-conscious driving in one refined package.

Safety and Assistance Systems: Advanced Protection and Convenience

Škoda’s second-generation Kodiaq is fitted with state-of-the-art safety features, including the latest nano radar sensors and an array of advanced assistance systems. Turn Assist, Collision Avoidance Assist, and Crossroad Assist actively detect potential hazards, providing visual and audible alerts and, when necessary, activating automatic braking to prevent collisions. Exit Warning alerts passengers to approaching vehicles when opening doors, enhancing safety in high-traffic environments.

Remote Park Assist, a highlight among the new Kodiaq’s features, allows drivers to park the vehicle via the MyŠkoda app, adding a new layer of convenience for urban and tight parking spaces. The inclusion of nine airbags and upgraded attention monitoring systems underscores Škoda’s commitment to providing the highest level of safety.

Special Edition Models: Sportline and RS Variants

For those seeking a more distinctive driving experience, Škoda offers the Kodiaq in Sportline and RS variants. The Kodiaq Sportline emphasizes style with glossy black accents, body-colored bumpers, and exclusive anthracite 19-inch wheels, delivering a modern, aggressive look. In contrast, the Kodiaq RS offers increased power with a 2.0 TSI engine delivering 195 kW (265 hp), all-wheel drive, and DCC Plus for enhanced driving dynamics. The RS’s polished black accents and sporty exterior details, including 20-inch alloy wheels, reflect Škoda’s commitment to blending performance with aesthetic appeal.

Legacy and the Future of the Kodiaq

Since its debut in 2016, the Kodiaq has established itself as a cornerstone of Škoda’s lineup, capturing over 865,000 drivers worldwide. Known for its spaciousness and reliability, the Kodiaq has won numerous awards and accolades. With this new generation, Škoda reaffirms its dedication to sustainability, connectivity, and safety, pushing the boundaries of what a family SUV can achieve.

With its advanced hybrid technology, spacious and sustainable interiors, and a user-friendly suite of infotainment and safety features, the second-generation Kodiaq stands poised to redefine the family SUV category. This modern flagship is a testament to Škoda’s forward-thinking approach and commitment to creating vehicles that are not only functional and stylish but environmentally responsible. The all-new Kodiaq is set to roll out globally, inviting drivers to experience the future of SUV technology, comfort, and innovation.
