Gurugram: Kia India has announced a partnership with Jio-bp to expand public electric vehicle charging accessibility across India, integrating more than 7,000 Jio-bp charging points into its K-Charge platform on the MyKia app. The collaboration will give Kia EV owners access to over 23,500 charging points nationwide while allowing Jio-bp users to gradually access Kia’s dealership-based DC fast chargers.
The agreement brings together Kia India’s digital charging ecosystem and the infrastructure operated by Jio-bp, the operating brand of Reliance BP Mobility Limited, a joint venture between Reliance Industries and bp. The companies aim to simplify public charging by allowing customers to locate stations, navigate to them, initiate charging sessions, monitor progress and make payments through their respective applications.
Under the arrangement, Kia customers can discover and use Jio-bp pulse charging stations directly through K-Charge in the MyKia app. In return, Kia’s 125 operational dealership DC fast chargers, along with additional chargers commissioned in the future, will be progressively integrated into the Jio-bp pulse charge pro app.
Jio-bp Adds Over 7,000 Charging Points Across 300 Cities
A significant component of the partnership is Jio-bp’s existing charging infrastructure, comprising more than 7,000 charging points across over 1,100 active sites in more than 300 Indian cities.
According to the company, several charging stations are positioned along major national highways, potentially making intercity journeys more convenient for electric vehicle owners.
The network includes DC fast chargers with rated outputs ranging from 60 kW to 480 kW. These higher-capacity installations can support faster charging for compatible Kia electric vehicles, although actual charging speeds depend on the vehicle’s charging capabilities, battery conditions and other operating factors.
Jio-bp also reports a network uptime of 96%, a figure that the company highlights as an important measure of charging reliability.
For EV drivers, the number of chargers on a map is only part of the equation. Finding one that is operational and compatible when needed can matter just as much.
Kia Dealership Chargers to Join Jio-bp’s Charging Network
The partnership is designed to work in both directions rather than simply expanding the charging options available to Kia customers.
Kia India’s 125 operational DC fast chargers at its dealerships will gradually become accessible through the Jio-bp pulse charge pro application. Future dealership charging installations are also expected to be incorporated into the platform.
The charge pro app provides charging station discovery, navigation, session management and digital payment capabilities. Jio-bp says the application also uses artificial intelligence to deliver real-time information about its charging network.
The integration is intended to provide Jio-bp users with additional charging options while extending the visibility and utilisation potential of Kia’s dealership charging infrastructure.
MyKia App Brings Multiple Charging Networks Under One Platform
For Kia EV owners, the collaboration further expands the functionality of K-Charge, the charging service integrated into the MyKia application.
With the addition of Jio-bp pulse, Kia says the platform now provides access to more than 23,500 public charging points across India.
Users can search for nearby charging stations, plan journeys, navigate to chargers, initiate and monitor sessions, and complete cashless payments without switching between separate charging applications for the integrated networks.
The arrangement addresses a common inconvenience in India’s evolving public charging ecosystem, where drivers may otherwise need multiple applications to locate and use chargers operated by different providers.
Kia India and Jio-bp Executives Highlight Convenience and Reliability
Commenting on the collaboration, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, said:
“At Kia India, we are committed to making every aspect of the EV ownership experience as seamless and rewarding as the vehicles themselves. The integration of Jio-bp’s extensive charging network with K-Charge on the MyKia app is another step in this direction, giving Kia EV customers greater access to charging options through a single platform. By enhancing convenience, choice, and accessibility, we are further strengthening the overall Kia EV experience and supporting the growing adoption of electric mobility in India.”
Sarthak Behuria, Chairman, Jio-bp, emphasised the role of charging infrastructure in building consumer confidence.
“India’s shift to electric mobility depends on building trust at scale. Our partnership with Kia India reflects that shared conviction. By bringing our nationwide network and high-performance charging infrastructure to Kia, we are not just adding charging points, we are building that trust together. This collaboration marks a meaningful step in our broader vision to make clean mobility accessible, dependable, and future-ready for every Indian on the road.”
Akshay Wadhwa, CEO, Jio-bp, pointed to charging infrastructure reliability as another important consideration for electric vehicle owners.
“For EV owners, range anxiety is often not just about charger availability, but about knowing whether the next charger will be operational. That’s where Jio-bp pulse comes in, with high-uptime charging stations and fast-charging technology designed to deliver a reliable, seamless charging experience. Together with Kia, we are making it easier for customers to access this network directly through the app. We are excited to give EV owners a charging experience that matches the quality of the vehicles they drive.”
A Step Towards a More Connected EV Charging Ecosystem
The partnership comes as charging accessibility, network interoperability and reliability remain important considerations for India’s electric vehicle market.
By integrating existing infrastructure instead of relying exclusively on new charging installations, Kia India and Jio-bp are seeking to make a larger charging network easier to access through their respective digital platforms.
The agreement also demonstrates how partnerships between vehicle manufacturers and charging network operators can help reduce fragmentation in public EV charging services.
For customers, however, the real test will be the everyday experience: accurate charger availability, dependable equipment, straightforward payments and minimal inconvenience during long-distance journeys.
As India’s electric mobility ecosystem develops, collaborations of this kind could become increasingly important in making public charging less of a logistical exercise and more of a routine part of vehicle ownership.
