MINI Enters Lucknow Market, BMW Group Unveils New Retail.Next Dealership in Uttar Pradesh

Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh: BMW Group India has expanded its presence in Uttar Pradesh with the introduction of MINI in Lucknow, bringing the British automotive brand to the state capital for the first time. The launch coincides with the opening of Speed Motorwagen’s Retail.Next facility, which houses BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad under one roof, offering integrated vehicle sales, pre-owned cars and aftersales services.

The development strengthens BMW Group’s retail operations in one of northern India’s growing luxury automotive markets. It also gives customers in Lucknow access to the Group’s wider portfolio, ranging from premium cars and electric vehicles to performance motorcycles.

The introduction of MINI reflects BMW Group India’s assessment of rising demand for premium vehicles that combine distinctive styling, personalisation and driving performance.

BMW Group Expands Its Luxury Automotive Presence in Uttar Pradesh

BMW has maintained a presence in Lucknow since 2012, and the addition of MINI represents a further expansion of the company’s operations in the region.

Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India, highlighted the importance of Lucknow as an emerging luxury automobile market.

“Lucknow is an important luxury market, with customers increasingly seeking brands that reflect their individuality and aspirations. Since 2012, BMW has shaped this market through a compelling portfolio, exceptional experiences and a strong local presence. We lead the luxury electric vehicle segment in Uttar Pradesh, reflecting the growing preference for progressive, sustainable mobility and the strength of our electric portfolio. MINI with its unmistakable style, spirited performance and distinctive character, is a natural fit for Lucknow’s refined taste and appreciation for self-expression. Together with Speed Motorwagen, we are strengthening the power of choice by bringing BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad under one roof, supported by personalised attention and seamless ownership support.”

The company’s claim of leadership in Uttar Pradesh’s luxury electric vehicle segment was not accompanied by supporting sales figures in the announcement.

Mr. Divij Narain, Dealer Principal, Speed Motorwagen, described MINI’s arrival as an important addition to the dealership’s portfolio.

“The arrival of MINI marks a significant milestone for Speed Motorwagen and discerning automotive enthusiasts in Lucknow. Alongside BMW’s progressive luxury and BMW Motorrad’s spirit of freedom and adventure, MINI adds a distinctive new dimension to our portfolio. Our team is committed to bringing each brand to life through thoughtfully curated product discovery, expert consultation and comprehensive aftersales care. We look forward to nurturing passionate communities across all three brands and ensuring every customer interaction is as memorable and individual as the mobility experience they choose.”

New Speed Motorwagen Facility Combines Three BMW Group Brands

Located at Faizabad Road, Khand-2, Matiyari, Chinhat, Semra, Uttar Pradesh 226028, the Speed Motorwagen dealership has been developed around BMW Group’s Retail.Next retail concept.

The BMW and MINI showroom covers 12,142 sq. ft., with space to display eight BMW vehicles and two MINI models. An additional 2,088 sq. ft. is dedicated to BMW Premium Selection (BPS), the company’s pre-owned vehicle programme, with capacity for three vehicles.

The showroom also incorporates a Luxury Class Lounge, customer consultation areas and a dedicated section for lifestyle products and accessories.

Aftersales operations are supported by a 17,035 sq. ft. workshop equipped with three vehicle reception bays, eight mechanical and electrical bays, and two programming bays. The infrastructure is designed to handle vehicle diagnostics, scheduled maintenance and repairs.

BMW Motorrad Gets Dedicated Showroom and Workshop

The facility also includes a separate 2,100 sq. ft. BMW Motorrad retail section with space to display 11 motorcycles.

Motorcycle servicing is handled through a 2,700 sq. ft. workshop featuring four service bays. Customers can also explore BMW Motorrad riding equipment, garments and accessories in a dedicated lifestyle area.

The arrangement allows BMW Group to offer its passenger cars, motorcycles and associated services from a single dealership location, potentially simplifying ownership support for customers in the region.

MINI Line-up Offers Petrol, Electric and Performance Models

MINI’s arrival in Lucknow gives customers access to a portfolio covering compact hatchbacks, convertibles, SUVs and electric vehicles.

The brand’s Indian line-up described in the announcement includes the MINI Cooper S, MINI Convertible, MINI Countryman C, all-electric MINI Countryman E, MINI SE All4 and performance-oriented MINI JCW Countryman All4.

While the Cooper S remains closely associated with MINI’s compact urban-car identity, the Countryman range caters to buyers seeking additional cabin space and everyday practicality.

The MINI SE All4 introduces all-wheel-drive electric performance, while the JCW Countryman All4 represents the sportier end of the portfolio.

MINI’s origins date back to the original Mini developed by Sir Alec Issigonis, whose space-efficient small-car design became one of the industry’s most recognisable automotive creations. The modern brand continues to emphasise compact proportions, distinctive styling and agile handling.

MINI Now Has 18 Sales Touchpoints Across 17 Indian Cities

With Lucknow joining its retail network, MINI now operates 18 sales touchpoints across 17 Indian cities.

Its dealership partners include Bird Automotive and Deutsche Motoren in Delhi NCR; Infinity Cars in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai; Krishna Automobiles in Chandigarh; KUN Exclusive in Chennai, Hyderabad and Bengaluru; Bavaria Motors in Pune; EVM Autokraft in Kochi; Gallops Autohaus in Ahmedabad; OSL Prestige in Kolkata; Speed Motorwagen in Lucknow; Titanium Autos in Guwahati and Ranchi; Eminent Cars in Surat; and Sanghi Classic in Jaipur and Jodhpur.

MINI’s servicing infrastructure is integrated with BMW Group India’s larger aftersales network, providing service availability at 51 touchpoints across 36 cities.

The broader service footprint is particularly relevant for customers who travel beyond their home cities and require maintenance or technical support.

What Is BMW Group’s Retail.Next Concept?

Retail.Next is BMW Group’s approach to modernising the traditional dealership experience by combining digital interfaces, personalised consultations and more open showroom layouts.

Rather than dividing different business operations into conventional, separate retail spaces, the concept introduces a unified environment connected by a Central Customer Walkway.

A consistent floor and ceiling design visually connects BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad, alongside new-vehicle sales, BMW Premium Selection and service operations.

Digital interfaces allow customers to explore vehicle specifications, review features and consider personalisation options while interacting with dealership representatives.

A single entry point for sales and service is also intended to simplify customer movement within the facility.

The approach reflects a broader shift in premium automotive retailing, where manufacturers are increasingly focusing on the overall customer experience rather than simply displaying vehicles.

A Broader Luxury Automotive Offering for Lucknow

The addition of MINI provides Lucknow’s premium car buyers with another established international brand and expands the range of products available through Speed Motorwagen.

For BMW Group India, the development represents more than the introduction of another nameplate. By bringing BMW, MINI and BMW Motorrad together with dedicated servicing facilities, the company is strengthening its local retail infrastructure and aftersales capabilities.

As demand for premium mobility evolves beyond India’s largest metropolitan markets, the Lucknow expansion illustrates how luxury automakers are adapting their dealership networks to serve a wider customer base. The real measure of success, however, will extend beyond showroom appearances to customer satisfaction, service quality and sustained demand.
