New Delhi: Maruti Suzuki India Limited said its Fronx has crossed 2 lakh cumulative exports in under 38 months, making it the fastest SUV from India to reach the milestone. The Made-in-India model is now exported to nearly 90 countries, including Japan.
Exports of the Fronx began in June 2023, and the pace has accelerated considerably since then. The SUV reached its first one lakh exports in under 25 months and required only around another 13 months to add the next one lakh units.
The Fronx is manufactured at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, underscoring India’s growing role not merely as a large automotive market but also as an export manufacturing base.
According to the company, the Fronx has been India’s No. 1 exported passenger vehicle since FY 2024-25. Its overseas footprint now spans close to 90 markets — rather a long journey for a model that began crossing international borders just over three years ago.
Speaking on the milestone, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “Every vehicle exported by Maruti Suzuki carries the hard work and pride of our people. Together, these vehicles take a piece of Indian manufacturing to nearly 120 countries. Fronx has been a key contributor to Maruti Suzuki’s success in exports. Since FY 24-25, it has been India’s No. 1 exported passenger vehicle and is now shipped to nearly 90 countries. After crossing the milestone of 1 lakh exports in record time, Fronx reached its second lakh significantly faster, underlining its growing demand in the international markets.”
The sharp reduction in the time needed to move from the first lakh to the second lakh provides an indication of the model’s increasing overseas demand. Japan is among the markets receiving the India-built SUV, giving the export programme added significance given the country’s established automotive manufacturing base.
Takeuchi added, “Aligned with ‘Make in India, Make for the World’, Maruti Suzuki continues to showcase the prowess of India’s manufacturing ecosystem. Sustained focus on exports has earned the Company the number one position in passenger vehicle exports from India*. Illustrating this leadership, all three of India’s top exported passenger vehicles in Q1 FY 26-27^ were from Maruti Suzuki. The growing export volumes year-on-year are a strong endorsement of the reliability and appeal of the Company’s products across global markets.”
Maruti Suzuki said its vehicles are currently exported to nearly 120 countries, with the Fronx emerging as an important contributor to the company’s international shipments. The automaker also said all three of India’s top exported passenger vehicles during Q1 FY 2026-27 came from its portfolio.
The Fronx milestone comes as Indian automakers increasingly look beyond the domestic market and use local manufacturing plants to serve customers across multiple regions. For Maruti Suzuki, reaching the second lakh exports substantially faster than the first suggests that the Fronx is becoming more than a domestic success story — it is also helping put Indian-built vehicles on a steadily larger global map.
