Volkswagen Elevates the Passat with Cutting-Edge Hybrids and Turbocharged Diesels

Volkswagen has unveiled an impressive expansion to its Passat lineup, introducing innovative plug-in hybrid and turbocharged diesel options starting from €41,745. The latest offerings include the eHybrid variants with remarkable electric ranges up to 120 km, alongside highly efficient and powerful TDI engines, marking a significant leap in the model’s versatility and appeal to a wide range of drivers.

The new eHybrid models are at the forefront of plug-in hybrid technology, boasting outputs of 150 kW (204 PS) and 200 kW (272 PS). These versions emphasize everyday electric car functionality with their substantial electric range, supported by a high-capacity 19.7 kWh battery that promises fast charging. Prices for the eHybrid models begin at €50,320 (INR 45.40 lakh), presenting a blend of luxury and eco-friendly driving.

On the diesel front, Volkswagen introduces an entry-level TDI with 90 kW (122 PS), designed as a cost-efficient option for business users, and a robust 142 kW (193 PS) TDI variant equipped with 4Motion all-wheel drive for superior performance and traction. The latter represents the pinnacle of diesel performance within the Passat range, starting at €57,335 (INR 51.73 lakh).

Previously available since last autumn were the eTSI mild hybrid and a TDI engine, both with 110 kW (150 PS), catering to those seeking a balance between efficiency and power. The introduction of these engines has solidified the Passat’s position as a preferred choice among business and leisure drivers alike.

The Passat lineup, known for its diversity, is available in several equipment lines including the standard Passat, Business, Elegance, and R-Line, each tailored to different driving preferences and lifestyles. Volkswagen’s move to expand its drive system offerings for the new Passat underscores its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and meeting the evolving needs of its customers.
