Škoda’s Kodiaq Roars into a New Era: Czechs Out with a 49 Million Euro Facelift!

In a move that’s electrifying the automotive world, Škoda Auto has kick-started production of its all-new Kodiaq SUV at the Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic. This isn’t just any revamp; it’s a 49 million euro extravaganza to spruce up and future-proof the production line and welding shop. This significant investment is turning heads, signaling Škoda’s commitment to staying ahead in the SUV game.

The Kodiaq, which has been a flagbearer for Škoda’s SUV line since its debut in 2016, is not just getting a makeover; it’s also embracing diverse powertrain options. For the first time, fans can get their hands on a plug-in hybrid variant. This addition marks a new chapter in Škoda’s drive towards sustainability and innovation.

Since its premiere, the Kodiaq has been nothing short of a superstar, with over 870,000 units produced. It’s been a pivotal player in Škoda Auto’s SUV campaign, and the launch of its second generation is causing a buzz. Andreas Dick, Škoda Auto Board Member for Production and Logistics, expressed pride and gratitude for the team’s dedication, which has paved the way for this new phase.

The Kvasiny plant is ready to roll out up to 410 Kodiaq SUVs daily. This production boost is thanks to the strategic shift of the Superb’s production to Bratislava, freeing up Kvasiny to focus on churning out more Karoq and Kodiaq models. The plant is now a powerhouse, capable of producing an extra 150,000 units annually.

The Kodiaq’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. It spearheaded Škoda’s SUV line and has been joined by siblings like the Karoq, Kamiq, and the electric Enyaq. The Kodiaq RS added a sporty flair to the family. Across 60 markets worldwide, this model has won hearts and accolades, bagging over 40 international awards.

With the unveiling of its second generation, the Kodiaq is not just a car; it’s a statement. It sports the new ‘Modern Solid’ design language, sustainable materials, and innovations like the Škoda Smart Dials. The exterior flaunts the latest LED matrix headlights. With five powertrain options and the debut of a plug-in hybrid variant, the new Kodiaq is ready to conquer roads and hearts, one electrifying mile at a time.
