Toyota India Announces Key Management Restructuring to Enhance Business Expansion

Bengaluru, January 3, 2024 – Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) today revealed a significant restructuring of its senior management, aiming to create a more dynamic, customer-centric leadership in India. This move, effective from January 1, 2024, seeks to bolster the company’s operations in India, emphasizing its importance in Toyota’s global strategy.

The restructuring aligns with Toyota Motor Corporation’s recent announcement of forming the “India, Middle East, East Asia & Oceania” region, highlighting India’s strategic role. Mr. Masakazu Yoshimura, MD and CEO of TKM, also appointed as Regional CEO, underscores the country’s growing prominence in Toyota’s corporate vision.

Key Leadership Changes at TKM:

  1. Mr. Tadashi Asazuma: Promoted from Executive Vice President to Deputy Managing Director – Sales-Service-Used Car TKM & Lexus. He will oversee Toyota and Lexus’s Sales, Service, and Used Car operations, focusing on growth and customer relations. His vast experience with Toyota in Japan and the Middle East since 2001 adds valuable global insight to his new role.
  2. Mr. Swapnesh R Maru: Elevated from Executive Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer to Deputy Managing Director – Corporate Planning, Finance & Administration, and Manufacturing. Maru’s expanded role includes steering manufacturing, finance, and administration functions. His extensive 25-year career across diverse sectors, including sales, finance, and corporate planning, both in India and globally, positions him well for this role.

A Strategic Move for Sustainable Growth:

Speaking on the restructure, Mr. Masakazu Yoshimura emphasized the significance of these changes. “We are thrilled to announce our revamped senior management structure at Toyota Kirloskar Motor. This comes at a pivotal moment for Toyota, as India emerges as a key market in our global operations,” he said. “These changes are tailored to support and drive sustainable growth, enhancing our capabilities to build a future-ready organization.”

Yoshimura expressed confidence in the restructured team’s ability to leverage India’s growing market potential, contributing to Toyota’s goals of delivering widespread happiness and achieving carbon neutrality in India.
