Gurugram: Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd. (NMIPL) reported a 50% year-on-year increase in domestic wholesales in October 2026, dispatching 3,600 vehicles compared with 2,402 units in the same month last year. The performance marked the Japanese automaker’s eighth consecutive month of year-on-year domestic growth, signalling continued momentum as it works to strengthen its position in India’s competitive passenger vehicle market.
The company also reported cumulative wholesales of 85,124 units across domestic and export markets between January and October 2026. Exports contributed 4,710 units in October alone, highlighting India’s continuing role as a production and export base for Nissan’s international operations.
The latest figures come as Nissan expands its product portfolio and dealership network in India, with the company identifying the all-new Tekton, Magnite and Gravite as important components of its growth strategy.
Eight Consecutive Months of Domestic Growth
October’s performance represented an increase of 1,198 units compared with the corresponding month of 2025, taking domestic wholesales from 2,402 to 3,600 vehicles.
More significantly, the results extended Nissan’s run of year-on-year domestic growth to eight consecutive months, an indicator of improving wholesale volumes as the automaker seeks to establish a more sustainable business in India.
While wholesale figures reflect vehicle dispatches rather than direct retail purchases, they remain an important measure of manufacturer performance and dealership inventory movement.
Nissan attributed its progress to customer response to its expanding product range, wider dealership presence and efforts to improve the ownership experience.
Nissan Focuses on Portfolio Expansion and Dealer Network
Commenting on the company’s performance, Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India, said:
“Our 50% year-on-year growth in domestic wholesales in October reflects continued customer confidence in Nissan and the progress we are making in India. With 85,124 units wholesaled across domestic and export markets between January and October, we continue to build on the strength of our expanding portfolio and dealer network. As we approach Dhanteras and Diwali, we remain focused on serving customers through distinctive products and enhanced ownership experiences. We also value the continued support of our international dealers, distributors and customers, who contribute to Nissan’s export performance.”
With the festive season approaching, Nissan is looking to build on its recent performance through a broader selection of vehicles and improved accessibility for customers.
The company’s strategy centres on strengthening its presence across important segments of the Indian automotive market while developing a dealership network capable of supporting long-term growth.
Exports Remain an Important Part of Nissan’s India Operations
Beyond domestic volumes, Nissan exported 4,710 vehicles during October 2026, continuing to supply international markets from its Indian operations.
Under its ‘One Car. One World.’ strategy, Nissan aims to deliver vehicles manufactured to consistent global quality standards for customers in India and overseas.
The approach reinforces India’s role within the automaker’s global manufacturing and distribution network, with exports providing an additional avenue for business beyond the domestic market.
For Nissan, maintaining a balance between domestic expansion and overseas demand remains central to its longer-term strategy.
Tekton, Magnite and Gravite Form Key Part of Growth Strategy
Product expansion is another important element of Nissan’s plans for India.
The company is positioning the all-new Nissan Tekton as an SUV combining Japanese design and craftsmanship with intelligent technology, performance and everyday practicality.
Together with the Magnite and Gravite, the Tekton forms part of Nissan’s effort to broaden its reach across key passenger vehicle segments and build sustainable sales volumes.
Nissan is also focusing on improving customer access and ownership experiences, recognising that an expanded product range must be supported by a sufficiently strong retail and service network.
Sustaining Growth Will Be Nissan’s Next Challenge
Nissan’s October performance offers encouraging evidence of improving domestic wholesale volumes, supported by continued export activity. However, maintaining that momentum in India’s highly competitive passenger vehicle market will depend on consistent product demand, dealership expansion and customer retention.
With eight consecutive months of domestic growth and combined domestic and export wholesales exceeding 85,000 units in the first ten months of 2026, Nissan enters the final part of the year with measurable progress. The bigger test will be whether its expanding portfolio can turn this run of growth into a lasting improvement in market presence.
