Bengaluru: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported total sales of 30,360 vehicles in October 2026, comprising 29,521 units sold in the domestic market and 839 units exported. The Japanese automaker’s Indian operations also recorded a 3% increase in cumulative sales during the first ten months of 2026, supported by growth in domestic demand despite a decline in exports.
Between January and October 2026, Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 3,25,274 vehicles, compared with 3,15,716 units during the corresponding period in 2025. The increase of 9,558 units represents year-on-year growth of approximately 3%, highlighting the company’s steady performance in a competitive automotive market.
Domestic Sales Grow 4% While Exports Decline 8%
Toyota’s domestic operations remained the principal contributor to its cumulative sales growth. The company sold 2,99,140 vehicles in India between January and October 2026, compared with 2,87,338 units in the same period last year, registering a 4% increase.
Exports, however, moved in the opposite direction. Overseas shipments declined 8% year-on-year to 26,134 units, against 28,378 units during January–October 2025.
The figures underline the importance of the Indian market to Toyota’s overall performance, with domestic sales accounting for approximately 92% of its cumulative volumes during the ten-month period.

While the domestic business added 11,802 units compared with the previous year, exports declined by 2,244 units. The stronger performance at home was sufficient to offset the overseas contraction, allowing Toyota to maintain positive cumulative growth.
Festive Season Supports Customer Interest
Toyota attributed encouraging customer interest to the ongoing festive season, which continues to influence vehicle purchasing decisions across India.
Commenting on the sales performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said:
“The festive season has continued to generate encouraging customer interest across markets, reflecting the trust in Toyota’s products and services. While market conditions continue to evolve, our focus remains firmly on creating value for customers through a diverse product portfolio, enhanced ownership experiences and customer-centric initiatives. We share the joy of festivities with our customers and dealer partners, whose continued confidence in the Toyota brand motivates us to further strengthen our efforts towards delivering reliable, sustainable and accessible mobility solutions.”
The company’s remarks suggest that maintaining customer engagement, improving ownership experiences and strengthening dealer relationships remain central to its sales strategy.
New Toyota Glanza Receives Encouraging Response
Toyota also highlighted the customer response to the recently launched New Toyota Glanza, describing the model’s reception as encouraging.
“Also, the recently launched New Toyota Glanza has received encouraging customer response for its stylish design, feature-rich offering and compelling value proposition.”
The Glanza remains part of Toyota’s passenger vehicle portfolio in India, providing an offering in the premium hatchback segment. Its presence also allows the manufacturer to cater to customers seeking a smaller vehicle alongside its broader range of passenger cars and utility vehicles.
However, Toyota did not disclose model-wise sales figures in its October announcement, making it difficult to quantify the Glanza’s individual contribution to the company’s monthly performance.
Domestic Growth Remains Key to Toyota’s 2026 Performance
Toyota’s October sales announcement comes as automakers navigate changing consumer preferences, competitive pressures and evolving market conditions. The company’s cumulative figures indicate that domestic demand has remained its primary source of growth during 2026.
Although exports contracted during the January–October period, Toyota’s overall sales remained ahead of last year’s corresponding figures. The divergence between domestic and overseas performance also illustrates how growth in one market can compensate for weakness in another.
With two months remaining in the calendar year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s performance will depend on whether domestic sales momentum can be sustained beyond the festive season and whether exports begin to recover. For now, the numbers offer a straightforward conclusion: India’s domestic market is doing most of the driving for Toyota’s growth in 2026.
