VinFast is positioning the VF 7 electric SUV as a family-focused option for long-distance travel in India, highlighting a spacious cabin, remote climate control, DC fast-charging capability and a claimed driving range of up to 496 km, depending on the variant.
The electric SUV has a 2,840 mm wheelbase and a flat cabin floor designed to provide additional passenger space, particularly for those seated in the rear. VinFast says the layout is intended to make longer journeys more comfortable for adults and children alike.
Being fully electric, the VF 7 also operates without the engine noise and vibration associated with an internal-combustion vehicle. That may not silence the traditional “Are we there yet?” from the back seat, but it should at least make the cabin itself a quieter place to hear it.
Remote AC aims to tackle India’s summer heat
Among the features aimed specifically at everyday usability in India is remote control of the HVAC system through VinFast’s smartphone app.
Owners can switch on the air-conditioning before entering the vehicle, allowing the cabin to cool while the car is parked. VinFast suggests activating the system around 10 to 20 minutes before departure when the vehicle has been standing in hot weather.
Depending on the VF 7 variant, equipment can also include ventilated front seats, dual-zone air-conditioning, an air ionizer and PM1.0 filtration.
Such features are particularly relevant in India, where a vehicle parked outdoors can become considerably hotter than the surrounding air temperature, turning pre-cooling from a convenience into something many occupants may quickly appreciate.
DC fast charging takes around 26-28 minutes
For longer journeys, the VF 7 supports DC fast charging. VinFast says the battery can be charged from 10% to 70% in approximately 26 to 28 minutes, depending on the Indian variant and prevailing charging conditions.
That charging time allows drivers to combine a charging stop with a meal, coffee break or rest stop rather than necessarily treating it as a separate part of the journey.
The VF 7 offers a claimed driving range of up to 496 km, depending on the Indian variant. Actual range will vary according to factors including driving conditions and vehicle usage.
VinFast is also offering free charging at V-Green charging stations in India until March 31, 2029, potentially reducing energy costs for eligible owners undertaking regular or long-distance journeys.
V-GREEN, meanwhile, is working with partners including RoadGrid India to expand fast-charging infrastructure at high-demand locations across the country. Planned locations include HPCL retail outlets, smart cities and other strategic sites.
VinFast also offers free scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 km, whichever comes first.
Comfort and driver-assistance features
Beyond cabin space and charging capability, higher variants of the VF 7 offer equipment including ventilated front seats, a head-up display, 360-degree surround-view monitoring and advanced driver assistance systems.
The combination is intended to address some of the smaller inconveniences that become more noticeable during extended journeys — from cabin temperature and passenger space to driving fatigue and charging stops.
EV transition support of up to INR 214,000
VinFast is additionally offering financial support under its India EV transition programme for eligible customers moving from an internal-combustion vehicle to a VinFast electric vehicle.
The programme provides between INR 175,000 and INR 214,000 of support across VF 7 variants, subject to eligibility.
Taken together, the incentives, complimentary charging programme and scheduled maintenance package form part of VinFast’s effort to reduce some of the cost barriers associated with switching from petrol or diesel vehicles to an EV.
For Indian families considering an electric SUV for both daily use and longer highway journeys, the VF 7’s proposition rests less on any single headline feature than on how its range, charging speed, cabin space and climate-control technology work together. Road trips will still involve traffic, snack stops and the occasional impatient passenger, but VinFast is betting that charging bills and a scorching cabin need not add to the list.
