VinFast Signs MoU With Federal Bank to Offer Inventory Finance to Dealers in India

Gurugram: VinFast India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Federal Bank to provide inventory financing solutions to its authorised dealers, as the electric vehicle manufacturer accelerates the expansion of its retail and after-sales network across the country.

Under the agreement, Federal Bank will offer customised financing solutions aimed at helping VinFast dealers manage working capital, maintain vehicle inventories and respond more efficiently to customer demand.

The partnership comes as VinFast builds out its dealership footprint in India. The company recently opened its 60th 3S dealership and plans to increase its network to 75 dealerships nationwide by the end of 2026.

The MoU was signed by Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast Asia, and Kumkum Jain, Additional SVP, Federal Bank Limited.

Ghosh said the financing arrangement was intended to give dealers greater operational flexibility as the automaker expands its presence in India.

“A strong dealer network is fundamental to delivering consistent and seamless customer experience. Our partnership with Federal Bank is an important step towards equipping our dealer partners with the financial flexibility needed to support business growth and operational efficiency. As we continue to expand our footprint across India, we remain focused on building a robust retail ecosystem that enables our partners to grow alongside us while delivering the highest standards of service to customers,” he said.

For automobile dealers, inventory financing can be an important part of day-to-day operations because vehicles often have to be purchased or financed before they are sold to customers. Access to structured credit can therefore help dealers maintain adequate stock without tying up excessive working capital — a rather less glamorous side of selling cars, but an essential one nonetheless.

Jain said the partnership would combine VinFast’s electric mobility plans with Federal Bank’s experience in dealer financing.

“Federal Bank is pleased to partner with VinFast to provide tailored inventory financing solutions for its dealer network. This collaboration combines VinFast’s commitment to sustainable mobility with Federal Bank’s expertise in dealer financing, supporting the growth of India’s EV ecosystem,” she said.

VinFast said the arrangement forms part of a broader effort to develop an electric mobility ecosystem in India through partnerships covering financing, charging infrastructure, after-sales services and retail operations.

The company is also investing in manufacturing and customer-support infrastructure in the country. Alongside its plant in Tamil Nadu, VinFast is developing a nationwide dealership and after-sales network as it seeks to establish a larger presence in the Indian electric vehicle market.

The Federal Bank agreement adds another piece to that expansion strategy. While new EV launches tend to attract the headlines, the availability of dealer finance, service facilities and vehicle inventory will ultimately play an equally important role in determining how smoothly VinFast can translate its India investment into sales and long-term customer support.
