Turin – In a bold move to redefine the electrification landscape, Stellantis has announced the accelerated launch of the range-extended Ram 1500 Ramcharger, positioning it ahead of the highly anticipated Ram 1500 REV battery-electric pickup. Originally slated for a 2025 debut, the Ram 1500 REV will now follow in 2026 as the Ramcharger takes center stage.
The decision comes as a response to surging consumer interest in the range-extended technology, which offers a compelling mix of electrification and practicality, and reflects waning demand for fully battery-electric half-ton pickups in a rapidly evolving market.
With customer orders set to open in the United States in early 2025, Ram aims to seize a competitive edge by delivering a game-changing solution for those seeking unparalleled range, capability, and versatility. European availability will be announced at a later date.
A Technological Powerhouse
The 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger boasts a groundbreaking targeted range of up to 690 miles, achieved through a combination of a 92 kWh battery pack and a 130 kW on-board generator. Its advanced dual electric drive modules (250 kW front and 238 kW rear) deliver a formidable 663 horsepower and over 615 lb.-ft. of torque. Key performance highlights include:
- 0-60 mph in 4.4 seconds
- Best-in-class towing capacity of 14,000 pounds with a class 5 hitch
- Maximum payload of 2,625 pounds
Adding to its versatility, the Ramcharger offers bi-directional charging, enabling vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-home power transfers. This feature not only supports other Stellantis EVs but also provides an option for grid backup.
Production at the Heart of Innovation
The Sterling Heights Assembly Plant in Michigan, a cornerstone of Ram 1500 production, will oversee the electrified model’s manufacturing. This ensures that the facility remains at the forefront of Stellantis’ electrification strategy while continuing to support internal combustion engine versions.
Shaping the Future of Trucks
Mike Koval Jr., Ram’s CEO, called the Ramcharger a “testament to our commitment to delivering benchmark vehicles,” emphasizing its role in blending advanced technology with real-world utility.
As Stellantis charges ahead in its electrification journey, the Ram 1500 Ramcharger promises to be a pivotal player, offering consumers the best of both worlds: cutting-edge electric performance and the dependability Ram trucks are known for.
Stay tuned as Ram prepares to redefine the pickup truck segment with this innovative addition to its lineup.
