Honda ZR-V Arrives in India With 22.8 km/l Mileage and ₹47.99 Lakh Price

New Delhi: Honda Cars India Ltd. has announced the price and commencement of deliveries of the all-new Honda ZR-V e, positioning the strong-hybrid model as its new flagship SUV in India. Imported from Japan as a Completely Built Unit, the ZR-V has been introduced at an introductory ex-showroom price of ₹47.99 lakh in Delhi.

The premium SUV is powered by Honda’s 2.0-litre e Sports Hybrid system, producing a combined maximum output of 184 PS and peak torque of 315 Nm. Honda claims a fuel economy of 22.8 km/l, while the ZR-V can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The launch expands Honda’s presence in India’s premium SUV market and gives the company a higher-priced offering above its existing domestic line-up. It also introduces Indian buyers to a model that Honda says has recorded cumulative global sales of more than 800,000 units since 2022.

The company said the first two batches allocated to the Indian market have already been booked, although it did not disclose the number of vehicles involved.

Commenting on the price announcement, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “Today marks another important milestone in Honda’s journey in India as we commence the deliveries of the All New Honda ZR-V e. Positioned as our flagship model in the India line-up, ZR-V embodies Honda’s global advancements in Strong Hybrid technology, design, comfort and safety, offering customers a truly sophisticated and engaging driving experience. The enthusiastic response to the ZR-V pre-bookings, with first two batches for Indian market already booked, has been extremely encouraging. We are deeply grateful to our customers for their trust and enthusiasm and remain committed to delivering an exceptional ownership experience as we start to fulfil these orders and welcome even more customers into the Honda family.”

Strong-Hybrid Powertrain

The ZR-V combines a 2.0-litre direct-injection Atkinson-cycle petrol engine with an advanced dual-motor hybrid system and an electronic continuously variable transmission.

The system switches automatically between Electric Drive, Hybrid Drive and Engine Drive modes, depending on speed, power demand and driving conditions. The aim is to balance fuel efficiency during urban use with stronger performance on highways and open roads.

Maximum power is rated at 184 PS between 5,000 and 6,000 rpm, while peak torque of 315 Nm is available between zero and 2,000 rpm.

Metal deceleration selector paddles allow the driver to adjust regenerative braking. Unlike conventional gear-shift paddles, these help control how quickly the vehicle slows while recovering energy for the hybrid battery—a small detail likely to become more familiar as electrified cars move beyond novelty status.

Exterior and Interior

Honda has developed the ZR-V around the concept of “Unleash Your Potential,” with the SUV intended to combine a strong road presence, premium cabin and sedan-like handling.

Exterior equipment includes full-LED lighting, 18-inch alloy wheels and distinctive front and rear styling. The design adopts sporty proportions without relying on the aggressively oversized visual elements increasingly common in the premium SUV market.

Inside, the ZR-V receives an all-black cabin with leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control and a driver-focused cockpit.

The driver gets an eight-way electrically adjustable seat with a one-touch memory function linked to the smart key fob. The front passenger seat offers four-way electrical adjustment.

Other convenience features include an auto reverse-tilt passenger-side mirror, an electronic parking brake and an idle-stop system with automatic restart.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The ZR-V is equipped with a 22.8 cm, or 9-inch, touchscreen infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

A 25.9 cm, or 10.2-inch, fully digital instrument display provides driving and vehicle information. The equipment list also includes a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system and wireless smartphone charging.

A hands-free powered tailgate can be operated using a kick gesture. It also supports a walk-away closing and locking function.

Cabin Storage and Boot Space

Honda has included several storage areas across the cabin, including large cup holders, door pockets, a smartphone tray beneath the centre console and a centre console compartment large enough to accommodate a tablet.

Rear passengers get a fold-down centre armrest, while the second-row seats can be folded in a 60:40 split.

With the rear seats folded flat, the SUV offers up to 1,313 litres of cargo capacity. The luggage area includes a retractable parcel cover, under-floor storage, a load partition and a flat cargo floor.

A low and wide boot opening is intended to make it easier to load larger or heavier items—useful for owners who expect their premium SUV to occasionally perform duties more demanding than carrying shopping bags.

Honda Sensing Safety Package

The ZR-V is equipped with the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.

The package includes the Collision Mitigation Braking System, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System and Road Departure Mitigation System.

Additional safety equipment includes eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, Vehicle Stability Assist and Hill Descent Control.

The SUV also uses Honda’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering, or ACE, body structure, which is designed to distribute collision forces across the vehicle’s front structure.

Colours and Warranty

The Honda ZR-V e will be offered in four exterior colours: Twilight Mist Black Pearl, Meteoroid Gray Metallic, Platinum White Pearl and Crystal Black Pearl.

The SUV comes with a three-year, unlimited-kilometre standard warranty and three years of complimentary roadside assistance.

Customers can purchase extended warranty coverage for up to seven years, while Honda’s Anytime Warranty programme provides coverage for up to 10 years or 120,000 km.

The lithium-ion hybrid battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first. Other hybrid-system components receive coverage for five years or 100,000 km, whichever is earlier.

With its CBU import status and ₹47.99 lakh introductory price, the ZR-V will operate in a relatively specialised corner of India’s SUV market. However, its arrival gives Honda a technologically advanced flagship and provides premium-SUV buyers with another strong-hybrid alternative at a time when fuel efficiency, performance and lower emissions are increasingly being expected to share the same parking space.
