Maruti Suzuki Expands Road Safety Mission in Uttar Pradesh with Automation of 12 More Driving Test Tracks

Technology-backed initiative aims to improve driving license issuance and enhance road safety across the state.

Lucknow/New Delhi: In a significant push towards improving road safety in Uttar Pradesh, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has scaled up its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, announcing plans to automate 12 additional driving test tracks across the state. This effort comes as a continuation of their existing partnership with the Uttar Pradesh Transport Department, following the successful automation of five tracks earlier this year.

These new tracks, located in cities such as Aligarh, Bareilly, Meerut, and Muzaffarnagar, will utilize cutting-edge technology to streamline the driving license testing process. The automated test tracks are equipped with high-definition cameras and integrated IT systems, ensuring an entirely computerized, transparent evaluation of driving skills for Two-Wheeler, Light Motor Vehicle (LMV), and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) licenses.

Inspired by the vision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the initiative aims to improve road safety and reduce accidents by ensuring only qualified individuals receive driving licenses. Dayashankar Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Transport, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, stating, “Automation makes the process more scientific and efficient, helping us move closer to our goal of safer roads in Uttar Pradesh.”

This expansion builds upon the automation of five tracks in Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Mathura, Prayagraj, and Varanasi, which were completed earlier this year. By automating the driving license testing process, Maruti Suzuki hopes to address one of the most critical pillars of road safety—evaluation.

“By eliminating manual intervention, we are ensuring a rigorous, standardized testing process that aligns with the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR),” said Rahul Bharti, Executive Director of Corporate Affairs at Maruti Suzuki. He further highlighted that this technology-driven approach will make a lasting impact on road safety by reducing human error in the licensing process and ensuring that only competent drivers are issued licenses.

This automation project, part of Maruti Suzuki’s larger commitment to road safety, is expected to transform driving license testing in Uttar Pradesh, potentially setting a benchmark for other states across India.
