Renault Duster Strong Hybrid Deliveries Start Ahead of Diwali as Brand Expands Hyderabad Retail Network

Hyderabad: Renault India has officially commenced customer deliveries of the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160, marking an important step in the French carmaker’s electrification strategy in India. The first vehicle was handed over in Hyderabad on Friday, coinciding with the inauguration of Renault’s largest showroom in the city, a 7,000-square-foot facility at HITEC City.

The strong-hybrid SUV, introduced in India on October 17, 2026, carries a starting price of ₹16.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Its arrival in customers’ garages represents Renault’s first product milestone under its India-focused electrification strategy, part of the company’s broader futuREady roadmap.

The first Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 was delivered to Mr. T Krishna Gopal, CEO, Eduzi Academy, with the vehicle’s keys presented by Francisco Hidalgo, VP, Sales and Marketing, Renault Group India, at the newly inaugurated showroom.

The occasion combined two significant developments for Renault: the start of deliveries of its new hybrid SUV and the opening of its 30th new’R-format retail outlet in India.

Hyderabad Emerges as a Key Market for the Hybrid Duster

According to Renault India, Hyderabad has emerged among the country’s leading cities for bookings of the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160.

The company sees the city’s established technology sector and growing population of technology-oriented consumers as favourable conditions for introducing hybrid vehicles.

For Renault, the timing also matters. The company had aimed to bring the hybrid Duster to customers within a year and begin deliveries during the festive season, an important period for India’s passenger vehicle market.

Speaking at the inauguration, Francisco Hidalgo, VP-Sales & Marketing, Renault Group India, said:

“During our planning phase, we set ourselves an ambitious target: to bring the Duster Hybrid to customers in less than a year, in time for the festive season. We are proud to have delivered on that promise, and we begin handing over the Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 to our customers around Diwali. The strong response since launch reflects growing acceptance of hybrid technology in India. Our commitment, however, goes beyond the product. Hyderabad is an important market for us, and with the new’R store we are building a best-in-class buying and ownership journey, so that every customer enjoys the same standard of experience at the showroom and in service as they do behind the wheel.”

Renault’s Biggest Hyderabad Showroom Opens at HITEC City

Alongside the first hybrid Duster delivery, Renault inaugurated its 30th new’R showroom in India, strengthening its retail presence in Hyderabad.

Spread across 7,000 square feet, the facility can accommodate eight display vehicles, making it Renault’s largest showroom in the city.

The dealership is operated in partnership with VVC Group, which now manages three Renault showrooms and two workshops in Hyderabad.

The latest opening also reflects Renault’s continuing investment in its dealership network, particularly in major urban markets where customer expectations increasingly extend beyond the vehicle itself.

The new’R format follows Renault’s global retail design philosophy, placing vehicles at the centre of the showroom while adopting a contemporary layout intended to improve the purchasing and ownership experience.

The concept forms part of Renault India’s broader retail transformation strategy, under which the carmaker is updating its dealerships to align more closely with its global brand identity.

Renault Targets Showroom Transformation Across 24 Cities by July 2027

Renault India’s dealership modernisation programme extends beyond Hyderabad.

The company plans to upgrade all its showrooms across 24 major Indian cities by July 2027. These markets collectively contribute nearly half of Renault’s sales in the country, making them particularly important to its retail strategy.

Of the 73 Renault showrooms operating across these cities, 30 have already been upgraded to the new’R format, leaving 43 facilities to be transformed under the current programme.

The transition is intended to introduce a more consistent showroom experience across major urban markets while supporting Renault’s evolving product portfolio.

Duster Strong Hybrid Signals Renault’s Electrification Plans for India

The Duster Strong Hybrid E-Tech 160 represents Renault’s first product under its Indian electrification roadmap, bringing the company’s globally developed E-Tech hybrid technology to the domestic market.

Its launch provides Renault with an opportunity to participate in India’s developing market for hybrid powertrains, offering customers another electrified option alongside conventional petrol and diesel vehicles and fully electric models.

The Duster nameplate also carries established recognition in India, giving Renault a familiar foundation for introducing its hybrid technology.

With customer deliveries now underway, the company faces the next challenge: converting initial booking interest into sustained demand while expanding the retail and service infrastructure supporting its vehicles.

For Renault India, the latest developments are about more than delivering a new SUV or opening another showroom. Together, the hybrid Duster’s market entry and the expanding new’R dealership network illustrate the company’s strategy of combining electrified products with a modernised retail experience. How effectively that combination translates into long-term sales and customer satisfaction will be the more meaningful measure of Renault’s next chapter in India.
