Nissan India Powers Up Green Drive with Solar Showrooms and Customer Tree Tags!

Gurugram – Nissan Motor India is giving World Environment Day a high-voltage twist—quite literally. In a powerful demonstration of its green intent, the company has switched several of its dealerships to solar power, launched tree-planting drives with personalized greenery, and even offered eco-friendly bragging rights to customers.

From Baroda to Jaipur and Mehsana to Kerala, seven dealerships across India—including EVM Nissan (with a hat-trick of green upgrades in Kerala), Acuity Nissan, Aarav Nissan, Dada Nissan, and Roshan Nissan—have flipped the switch to sunshine. These grid-connected solar systems not only run the full operations of each showroom and workshop, but also pump surplus energy back into the power grid. Basically, the sun now test drives Nissans too.

“Our commitment to sustainability goes beyond token gestures,” said Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India. “It’s about long-term environmental stewardship. Or as we say in the office—less pollution, more propulsion.”

But the most charming twist in Nissan’s eco-drive is the green-thumb initiative happening across all its touchpoints. On June 5, every Nissan dealership and workshop nationwide will invite customers to plant a sapling—and here’s the twist—it gets tagged with the customer’s name and car number. It’s like car ownership… but for a tree. Every participant also gets a “Green Service Certificate” and seed packets, because who said sustainability can’t come with takeaways?

In tandem, Nissan is also reducing plastic use in packaging by 15%, as part of its larger strategy to declutter the planet—one bubble wrap at a time.

For those looking to make their car greener too, Nissan’s recently launched CNG retrofitment kit for the New Nissan Magnite might just be the cherry on the chlorophyll cake. At an additional ₹74,999, the factory-approved retrofit kit is available across seven eco-forward states and offers better mileage with lower emissions. Think of it as a diet plan for your car—less fuel, more fitness.

Nissan’s sustainability isn’t just confined to the environment; it’s showing up in the sales charts too. With 99,000+ units sold in FY2024-25—the brand’s best performance in seven years—and Magnite leading the domestic charge at 28,000+ units, Nissan has also flexed its export muscle, growing from 20 to 65+ international markets, shipping over 71,000 vehicles.

From solar-powered showrooms to personalized tree hugs, Nissan’s World Environment Day celebration is less about horsepower and more about green power—and honestly, it’s a refreshing change of gear.
