Green Wheels, Greener Deeds: PM Flags Off 200 E-Buses and 10,000 Seeds on a Mission to ‘Plant Progress’

New Delhi — In a splendid blend of chlorophyll and charging cables, India rolled into World Environment Day with two bold green strides—one with 200 silent electric DEVi buses, and the other with 10,000 not-so-silent seed cards, whispering promises of basil, wildflowers, and better air.

Under the leafy canopy of Bhagwan Mahavir Vanasthali Park, Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only flagged off the eco-warrior fleet by PMI Electro Mobility but also planted a symbolic Banyan sapling—because nothing says “Green Viksit Bharat” quite like combining a bus launch with a tree plantation. Think of it as India’s version of driving change and rooting values—all in one event.

The 200 new electric buses will now cruise across 30 “Green Routes” in the capital, offering zero-emission rides and possibly the most serene honks Delhi has never heard. These battery-powered chariots are expected to drastically reduce emissions and decibel levels, both of which Delhi has in abundance.

But it wasn’t just about buses and banyans. In a gesture that was equal parts poetic and photosynthesis-friendly, PMI distributed 10,000 eco-friendly seed cards as part of its homage to the PM’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative. Each card is embedded with basil and wildflower seeds, ready to be buried in soil and bloom into leafy tributes to Mother Earth. Citizens were encouraged to plant the cards, take selfies, and tag PMI online—because what’s sustainability without a little social media validation?

Dr. Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility, remarked with heartfelt pride:

“Our electric buses may not roar, but our commitment to sustainability surely does. Being flagged off by the Hon’ble Prime Minister is not just a milestone—it’s a green light for the future. And these seed cards? They’re our little thank-you notes to the planet.”

With this rollout, PMI’s green fleet now spans over 2,500 electric buses in 31 cities, collectively saving enough CO₂ to fill an IPL stadium—or ten. That’s over 250,000 metric tons a year, and 3 million tons over the buses’ lifetime. Imagine the air feeling 30% less Delhi.

So, as India celebrates World Environment Day with the hum of electric motors and the quiet hope of sprouting seeds, one thing is clear: the road to a Green Viksit Bharat isn’t just being paved—it’s being planted too.
