New All-Electric Ford Explorer Completes Historic 30,000 KM Global Drive and Hits European Market

NICE, France, March 26, 2024 – In a remarkable feat of endurance and technology, the all-electric Ford Explorer, led by the intrepid adventurer Lexie Alford (@LexieLimitless), has successfully completed a groundbreaking 30,000-kilometer journey around the world, setting a new record for electric vehicles. This achievement marks the commencement of sales for the all-new Explorer in Europe, offering customers a chance to embark on their adventures with a vehicle proven to withstand the rigors of the planet’s most challenging terrains.

The Ford Explorer’s journey, described as the “world’s ultimate test drive,” spanned six continents, crossed through 27 countries, and encountered every imaginable obstacle, from power outages in Africa to the desolate expanses of the Atacama Desert. Explorer also reached India and Lexie visited Taj Mahal. This adventure not only demonstrated the vehicle’s robust capabilities but also tested the global charging infrastructure, showcasing the potential for electric vehicle technology on a global scale.

The Explorer, a European-built SUV, is Ford’s first passenger EV developed and manufactured in the continent. It boasts a best-in-class driving range of more than 600 kilometers on a single charge and features rapid charging capabilities, going from 10-80% battery life in just about 26 minutes with DC fast charging. This vehicle combines German engineering precision with iconic American design, offering a choice of single motor rear-wheel drive or dual motor all-wheel drive powertrains to cater to a variety of customer needs.

Jim Farley, CEO of Ford, expressed his enthusiasm at the celebration event in Nice, France, emphasizing Ford’s commitment to infusing electric vehicles with passion and emotion, characteristics often missing from the electric vehicle segment. The new Explorer, according to Farley, represents the adventurous spirit of Ford, designed specifically for Europe’s diverse roads and conditions.

The vehicle used in this record-setting journey was a pre-production model, showcasing the reliability and performance of the Explorer under extreme conditions. The journey highlighted the vehicle’s adaptability, utilizing a variety of charging solutions across the globe and featuring amenities such as MegaConsole cabin storage, a heated and massaging driver’s seat, and the advanced Sync Move infotainment system.

With the official launch of the Ford Explorer in Europe, customers now have access to a vehicle that not only promises zero emissions but also delivers unmatched driving range, rapid charging, and a suite of luxury features as standard. Ford’s announcement also includes a collaboration with Allego to introduce ultra-fast chargers at dealerships, further enhancing the Explorer’s appeal to European customers looking for a sophisticated, powerful, and environmentally friendly SUV for their adventures.

The all-electric Ford Explorer is now available for order, ready to take on the world just as Lexie Alford did, one charge at a time.
