Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s top-selling automaker and unofficial national driveway decorator, has reported total sales of 180,077 units for May 2025 — proving once again that Indians can never have enough of compact cars, dependable vans, and the eternal hunt for parking.
Breaking it down:
- Domestic sales zoomed in at 138,690 units, with compact and mini cars continuing to lead the charge — probably because they can still squeeze into mall parking lots on weekends.
- SUVs clocked an impressive 54,899 units, possibly due to every second Indian family now believing they need off-road capabilities to survive potholes and wedding processions.
- The Ciaz, Maruti’s lone sedan warrior, moved a modest 458 units — still more than the average Delhi boy’s gym selfies in a month.
- Eeco vans found 12,327 new homes (and likely some milk crates and laddoos), while the Super Carry pickup truck hauled in 2,728 units, perhaps on its way to carry more Super Carries.
- Maruti even played Robin Hood, supplying 10,168 cars to other OEMs, proving that even the competition can’t say no to a bit of Maruti magic.
- And let’s not forget exports — 31,219 units shipped abroad, because clearly, Maruti is just as good at crossing borders as it is at dodging speed bumps.
With the numbers revving steadily across all segments, it’s clear that India continues to say “kitna deti hai?” — and Maruti keeps answering with “aur bhi le lo.”
