Toyota India Expands Pre-Owned Legacy: First Company-Owned TUCO Facility Opens in Guwahati

Bangalore: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has taken a bold step to strengthen its foothold in the burgeoning used car market with the inauguration of its first Company-Owned Toyota Used Car Outlet (TUCO) in Guwahati. This milestone marks the brand’s entry into Northeast India for its pre-owned car segment, making it the third such facility under the “Toyota U-Trust” umbrella, following successful launches in Bengaluru and Delhi.

Strategically located in Guwahati, the 4,000-square-foot facility can display over 15 certified Toyota vehicles at any given time, catering to the region’s rising demand for high-quality pre-owned cars. The move aligns with Toyota’s commitment to ensuring customer satisfaction, offering convenience, transparency, and reliability at every step of the used car buying and selling journey.


The TUCO Experience: Quality Meets Transparency

TUCO outlets redefine the used car experience by delivering meticulously certified pre-owned Toyota vehicles. Each car undergoes a rigorous 203-point inspection by Toyota-trained technicians, ensuring compliance with the brand’s global safety, quality, and reliability standards. Beyond technical evaluations, thorough documentation checks, including service history verification, guarantee peace of mind for customers.

Toyota’s signature ‘MARU MARU’ process, a hallmark of TUCO, exemplifies the brand’s dedication to precision cleaning and vehicle presentation, further enhancing trust in the buying process. Digitally integrated showrooms provide transparent pricing and detailed vehicle histories, while the ‘Valuate Your Car’ feature on the Toyota U-Trust website empowers customers to assess the value of their current vehicles online.

TUCO-certified vehicles come with a robust after-sales support package, including a warranty of up to 30,000 kilometers or two years and three complimentary services redeemable at Toyota service centers nationwide, reinforcing the company’s promise of dependable ownership experiences.

Speaking at the launch, Takashi Takamiya, Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, highlighted the growing significance of the used car market in Toyota’s India strategy. “We are delighted to deliver our 1,000th vehicle from our Company-Owned Outlets. The Northeast region, particularly Guwahati, plays a pivotal role in our expansion plans. This new TUCO outlet reflects Toyota’s unwavering commitment to quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction, aligning perfectly with our vision of ‘Happiness for All.’”

With the Indian used car market projected to grow at a CAGR of 8%, the Northeast is emerging as a key contributor to this organized segment. Guwahati’s strategic position as the gateway to the region underscores its importance in Toyota’s roadmap for enhancing mobility solutions and expanding customer access.

Toyota’s foray into the used car business began in 2022 with its inaugural facility in Bengaluru, making it the first automotive manufacturer in India to offer fully OEM-refurbished used vehicles. In May 2024, the initiative expanded to Delhi, further solidifying Toyota’s position as a trusted provider of pre-owned vehicles.

Atul Sood, Project Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, expressed optimism about the new venture, stating, “The opening of the Guwahati TUCO facility is a significant milestone for us.
