Anand Mahindra, Chairman of Mahindra Group, recently shared a heartfelt tribute to the late Ratan Tata, reflecting on a cherished memory from nearly two decades ago. In his post, Mahindra described the encounter as one of his most enjoyable memories with Tata, a business icon he deeply admired.

The memory dates back to the Auto Expo in Delhi, nearly 20 years ago. Mahindra recounted that he was at the Mahindra pavilion when a buzz stirred at the entrance—Ratan Tata had unexpectedly arrived with his colleagues. Mahindra warmly welcomed him, only to be met with Tata’s characteristic humor. “I just came in to check out the competition!” Tata chuckled, making the moment both lighthearted and memorable.
Expressing his sorrow over Tata’s absence, Mahindra emphasized the significance of Tata’s influence on India’s economic progress. “I am unable to accept the absence of Ratan Tata,” he wrote, underscoring how Tata’s life and work have shaped India’s economy, which now stands poised for a historic leap forward. Mahindra lamented the loss of Tata’s mentorship at this crucial juncture, recognizing its value to the country’s progress.
Reflecting on Tata’s philosophy, Mahindra emphasized that Tata viewed financial wealth as a means to serve the global community. He expressed his commitment to upholding Tata’s legacy, stating, “All we can do is commit to emulating his example.”
Ending his tribute with a poignant farewell, Mahindra wrote, “Goodbye and Godspeed, Mr. T. You will not be forgotten. Because legends never die… Om Shanti.”
