Hindustan Zinc Highlights Automotive Innovations at Delhi Conclave

Hindustan Zinc Showcases Extensive Metal Portfolio at ACMA Auto Conclave

Udaipur/New Delhi, 3rd July 2024 – Hindustan Zinc Limited, India’s leading zinc producer and the world’s second-largest, made a significant impact at the 4th Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) Raw Material Conclave & Exhibition held recently in Delhi. The event featured a comprehensive display of Hindustan Zinc’s zinc, lead, silver, and value-added products, underscoring the growing importance of zinc galvanization and zinc die-casting alloys in the automotive sector.

Hindustan Zinc, recognized as the world’s most sustainable metals company by the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, highlighted how zinc usage in the automotive industry can lead to substantial fuel and emission savings. Zinc galvanization, by providing high corrosion resistance to lightweight steel bodies, ensures the durability and longevity of vehicles. Lead, crucial for automotive batteries and radiation shielding, enhances safety and reliability, while silver improves conductivity and efficiency in automotive electronics.

The company also presented its value-added zinc-based alloys, Hindustan Zinc Die Casting Alloys (HZDA 3 & HZDA 5), known for their superior strength, electrical conductivity, corrosion resistance, and dimensional tolerance, making them ideal for modern automotive applications. As the industry moves towards localization, electrification, and stricter emission standards, domestically produced zinc, lead, and silver offer sustainable and high-performance solutions.

Speaking at the conclave, Vijay Murthy, Chief Marketing & Sales Officer at Hindustan Zinc, emphasized the importance of zinc galvanization and zinc-based alloys in creating stronger, more sustainable automotive bodies. “Zinc stands out as a sustainable solution for the challenges of tomorrow,” said Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc. “Our commitment is to collaborate with Indian automakers to unlock zinc’s potential and drive India’s mobility future forward.”

Hindustan Zinc’s participation at the ACMA conclave underscores its role as a key upstream partner to the automotive industry, supplying a diverse metal portfolio for various applications, from car bodies to batteries and corrosion-resistant components. The company’s innovative approach ensures that its products meet the highest performance, speed, and safety standards without compromising on quality.

The company’s Customer Technical Services team works closely with clients to ensure a seamless experience, focusing on product innovation and quality. Hindustan Zinc’s zinc and lead products are verified by the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and certified by ISO and BIS standards, alongside REACH certification for European exports.

Hindustan Zinc’s Centre of Excellence continues to develop products that meet emerging customer needs, enabling automakers to produce lighter, more fuel-efficient vehicles with superior safety features, contributing to a sustainable future.

As a Vedanta Group company and the world’s second-largest zinc producer, Hindustan Zinc is pivotal in the global energy transition, supplying critical metals essential for a sustainable future. The company is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050, further cementing its leadership in the metals and mining industry.
