2024 Bentley Bentayga Review: Redefining Luxury and Performance in the SUV Segment

The Bentley Bentayga, first introduced in 2015, is Bentley’s inaugural luxury SUV, and the 2024 first-generation facelift variant exemplifies a blend of opulence, performance, and advanced technology. This variant is available exclusively in petrol, with prices starting from ₹5.5 crore (ex-showroom) for the base model and reaching up to ₹9.5 crore for the top variant. The highlighted V8 variant is priced at ₹6 crore.

Designed by SangYup Lee, renowned for his work on the Continental GT, Flying Spur, Hyundai Ioniq 7, Chevrolet Camaro, and Corvette, the Bentayga boasts a striking design. Its body is manufactured in Germany with final assembly taking place in the UK. The Bentayga is available in 4-seater, 5-seater, and 7-seater configurations, with extensive customization options through Bentley’s Mulliner program. Customers can choose from 80 color options and duo-tone paint choices.

The exterior features of the Bentayga include a matrix lower bumper grille, chrome radiator matrix grille, and crystal-cut full matrix elliptical LED headlamps with high beam assist. The 3D jewel-cut elliptical LED tail-lights come with animated turn indicators. Standard 21-inch 5 twin-spoke alloy wheels are provided, with an option for 22-inch alloys and self-leveling wheel badges. The mirrors are electrically adjustable, power-fold, heated, auto-dimming with memory, turn indicators, and cameras. The vehicle also includes acoustic, heat-insulating windscreen and side glass, as well as a heated rear screen. With dimensions of 5.1 meters in length, 2.2 meters in width, and 1.7 meters in height, the Bentayga can ford water up to 500 mm, has a gross weight of 3250 kg, and can tow up to 3500 kg.

Inside, the Bentayga offers 16-way adjustable rear seats with electric headrest, memory, ventilation, and massage functions, while the front seats are 20-way adjustable with similar features. Various upholstery color options are available. The vehicle features a 10.9-inch infotainment system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and various connectivity options. Rear passengers can enjoy a removable 5-inch touchscreen. The 4-zone automatic climate control includes a particle matter sensor, air ionizer, and humidity sensor. The sound system options range from the standard Bentley audio system to Bang & Olufsen or Naim audio systems. Additional features include a heated steering wheel with memory, panoramic glass roof, head-up display, lockable cooled glovebox, double sun visor, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Under the hood, the Bentayga V8 is powered by a 3996 cc, V8, twin-turbocharged Volkswagen EA825 petrol engine producing 542 horsepower and 770 Nm torque. It can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in 4.5 seconds with a top speed of 290 kmph. The hybrid variant features a 2995 cc, V6, turbocharged TFSi engine paired with a 100 kW electric motor, delivering 456 horsepower and 700 Nm torque, achieving 0-100 kmph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 254 kmph and a 40 km electric range. Both variants come with the ZF 8HP90 8-speed automatic transmission and permanent all-wheel drive with a center Torsen differential. The Bentley Dynamic Ride 48-volt active roll control system ensures superior handling and comfort.

The Bentayga’s advanced safety and assistance systems include Intelligent Park Assist, 3D surround view, Rear Crossing Traffic Assist, Manoeuvre Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, Lane Departure Warning, Exit Warning, Blind Spot Assist, Turn Assist, Evasive Steering Assist, Emergency Assist, Driver Assist Profile Switch, and Predictive Efficiency Assist. Additional safety features encompass 8 airbags, ABS, EBD, hydraulic brake assist, drag torque control, electronic differential lock, traction control, Bentley Safeguard Plus, Hill Descent Control, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, and a night vision camera.

Bentley owners can enjoy exclusive events like factory visits, extraordinary journeys, and fine dining experiences. The Bentayga offers 392 liters of boot space in the 4-seater model, 484 liters in the 5-seater, and 213 liters in the 7-seater. The vehicle also comes with a space-saving spare wheel and a battery charger.
