BMW has officially launched the fourth generation of its iconic 1 Series, setting new standards in the premium compact segment. With a bold design, enhanced drive portfolio, and advanced chassis technology, the new BMW 1 Series is poised to dominate its competitive landscape as the sportiest option available.
Striking Design and Advanced Features
The new BMW 1 Series exudes a dynamic presence, featuring hallmark BMW proportions: a long bonnet, a passenger cell set well back, a flowing roofline, and a powerful rear end. The exterior dimensions have seen slight adjustments, with a length increase of 42 millimeters, now at 4,361 millimeters, and a height increase of 25 millimeters, reaching 1,459 millimeters. A prominent, forward-leaning BMW grille and sleek LED headlights emphasize its sporty character.
Interior Innovations
Inside, the BMW 1 Series offers a fully leather-free, premium interior with a modern, sporty ambiance. The redesigned seats, available in recycled polyester or leather-like materials, ensure comfort and sustainability. The digital BMW Curved Display, consisting of a 10.25-inch Information Display and a 10.7-inch Control Display, minimizes buttons and enhances the digital experience.
Powerful and Efficient Engines
The new BMW 1 Series introduces engines with 48-volt mild hybrid technology, optimizing both efficiency and performance. The range includes a 125 kW/170 hp three-cylinder petrol engine and a 120 kW/163 hp four-cylinder diesel engine. The flagship BMW M135 xDrive boasts a 221 kW/300 hp four-cylinder engine, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.9 seconds.
Enhanced Chassis and Driving Dynamics
The new BMW 1 Series benefits from improved body rigidity and advanced chassis technology. The Adaptive M Chassis, sport steering, and 17-inch light-alloy wheels (18-inch for the M135 xDrive) come standard, with optional 19-inch wheels and M sport brake system available for enhanced driving dynamics.
Cutting-Edge Technology and Safety
BMW has equipped the new 1 Series with state-of-the-art automated driving and parking systems. Standard features include Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant, with advanced options like Steering and Lane Control Assist and Parking Assistant Professional. The new BMW Operating System 9 and BMW iDrive with QuickSelect offer an intuitive user experience, supported by remote software upgrades and BMW Digital Premium services.
Sustainable Production
BMW’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the new 1 Series, with efficient engines and a production process focused on resource conservation and material recycling. This approach ensures sustainability throughout the vehicle’s lifecycle.
The new BMW 1 Series will be produced at the BMW Group plant in Leipzig, with market launch scheduled for October 2024. The primary market will be Germany, with significant sales expected in other European countries and Japan.
BMW continues to lead the way in the premium compact segment, combining driving pleasure, innovation, and sustainability in the new 1 Series.
