Beijing, April 25, 2024 – In an electrifying display of innovation and heritage, MG stole the spotlight at the 2024 Beijing International Auto Show with the global unveiling of its new electric concept supercar, the EXE181. This latest marvel pays homage to MG’s illustrious speed legacy while steering the brand into a new era of electric mobility.
The EXE181 concept car, developed by MG’s London Advanced Design Center, is a futuristic reinterpretation of the legendary “Roaring Raindrop” MG EX181, which set a formidable speed record of 410.5 km/h back in 1959. This record stood impressively until 2014 when it was finally surpassed by Bugatti. The new EXE181 is designed to push the boundaries even further with a targeted top speed of 415 km/h and an exceptionally low drag coefficient (Cd) of 0.181, propelling it into the elite “Sub-1 second 0-100 km/h Club.”
The launch also celebrated the completion of the “Cyberster Global Journey,” a nine-month adventurous trek across the Eurasian continent by British adventurers Rose and Hugo Turner in the MG Cyberster. The journey, which began at last year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, has captivated MG enthusiasts worldwide and concluded with their grand entrance at the Beijing Auto Show.
In addition to its groundbreaking automotive advancements, MG announced partnerships with notable football clubs including Arsenal, OL Club, and Bayer 04 Leverkusen. Further bolstering its sports affiliations, MG is set to become the main sponsor of the Goodwood Festival of Speed this July, succeeding Porsche in the role.
As MG commemorates its 100th anniversary, the brand remains committed to its legacy of speed and innovation. The EXE181 not only symbolizes a nod to the past but also a bold stride into the future of electric vehicles, ensuring MG’s place at the forefront of automotive excellence for the next century.
