Daruvala Dazzles with Debut Points in Electrifying Misano E-Prix Finish

In an electrifying display of skill and strategy, Jehan Daruvala of Maserati MSG Racing clinched his first points in the FIA Formula E World Championship by securing a ninth-place finish at the 2024 Misano E-Prix. This remarkable achievement marks Daruvala’s first top 10 finish since joining the electric racing series earlier this year, showcasing his potential and resilience on the global stage.

The Misano weekend was a roller coaster of emotions for the Maserati MSG Racing team, which had already celebrated a podium finish the previous day. Maximilian Günther delivered a commendable performance by finishing third, a result upgraded after Antonio Felix da Costa’s disqualification. However, the focus quickly shifted to the second race, where Daruvala started from 21st position after a challenging qualifying session.

Despite the less-than-ideal start, the race unfolded with the characteristic intensity of Formula E’s peloton-style racing. Günther and Daruvala battled fiercely from the moment the lights went out. An early race Safety Car phase, triggered by an accident involving Robin Frijns, bunched up the field and presented Daruvala with the opportunity to mount a comeback.

Leveraging this, Daruvala demonstrated exceptional racecraft and strategic prowess. With precise energy management and overtaking maneuvers, he catapulted himself from 20th to a commendable ninth place in the closing stages of the race. This not only earned him his first points in the series but also underscored Maserati MSG Racing’s consistent performance, maintaining a 100% points-scoring record in the season.

Teammate Günther’s race was a story of what could have been, with a promising drive compromised by a late incident and subsequent penalty, relegating him to 12th place at the race’s conclusion.

Reflecting on his breakthrough performance, Daruvala expressed his satisfaction and determination to build on this success, stating, “It feels good to score my first points in Formula E today. We executed our strategy perfectly, and this top 10 finish is a great reward for the entire team’s effort. Looking ahead to Monaco, I’m confident of our chances to secure another strong result.”

The Maserati MSG Racing team’s spirits are high as they prepare for their home race at the iconic Monaco E-Prix. With the season reaching its midpoint, the team is poised to continue its positive trajectory, fueled by Daruvala’s milestone achievement and the collective ambition to excel on motorsport’s electrifying frontier.
