In a surprising twist of automotive nostalgia, a rare Maruti Suzuki Zen Carbon/Steel edition from 2004 has hit the market, stirring excitement among car enthusiasts and the new generation alike. This exclusive 2-door hatchback, reminiscent of the Mahindra Thar 2-door’s popularity, is making waves with its timeless appeal.
Under the hood, the Zen boasts a 993 cc LXI BS IV all-aluminium engine, delivering a modest 60 horsepower and 78 Nm torque. Despite its age, the car maintains an impressive efficiency with an average of around 17 kmpl, thanks to its light 1190 kg laden weight and a 35-litre fuel tank.
The vehicle’s dimensions (3495 mm in length and 1405 mm in height) and a ground clearance of 165 mm highlight its compact and agile nature. Its sporty alloy wheels add to the visual appeal, complementing the Carbon black colour. The Zen, standing for ‘Zero Engine Noise,’ offers an electronic power steering for a smoother drive. Its Mcpherson strut front suspension and rear setup featuring a 3-link rigid axle with trailing arm, coil springs, and gas-filled shock absorbers promise a balanced ride.
Priced at ₹ 2,00,000 and with 46,000 km on the odometer, this petrol-powered, 5-speed manual transmission Zen is located in Mansarovar, Jaipur. Having had over four owners, its condition is said to be a rare find in the current market.
Opinions on its value, however, are divided. User ryan.krzr commented, “Due to its rarity in this condition 1.5L to 1.8L should be a deal with all things working,” while granth__bhardwaj expressed skepticism, saying, “Not worth the price.”
This classic Zen, a symbol of automotive history, stands as a testament to Maruti Suzuki’s legacy and continues to captivate the hearts of both old and new generations of car enthusiasts.
