New-Delhi, January 08, 2024 – In a groundbreaking development, the Hari Shankar Singhania Elastomer and Tyre Research Institute (HASETRI) has been named the world’s first accredited Proficiency Testing Provider (PTP) for Rolling Resistance Tests. This prestigious recognition was granted by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). The award is compliant with the stringent standards of ISO 17043:2010 and encompasses three crucial tyre categories – C1 (passenger car tyres), C2 (light truck tyres), and C3 (heavy truck tyres).
HASETRI’s certification, effective from November 30, 2023, to November 29, 2025, underscores the institute’s leading position in proficiency testing and its unwavering commitment to the field of elastomer and tyre research. This achievement accentuates HASETRI’s expertise in applying simulation and prediction techniques to enhance product performance and streamline design processes.

The accreditation for Proficiency Testing Providers (PTP) spans various disciplines, including Testing, Calibration, Medical, and Inspection. It involves a formal evaluation of technical proficiency for specified tests or measurements, with assessments conducted by third-party entities in compliance with international norms. This accreditation is a crucial tool for National Accreditation Bodies in assessing the competence of accredited laboratories.
Located in Mysuru, Karnataka, HASETRI is an independent research and testing laboratory recognized as a Scientific Industrial Research Organisation (SIRO) by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. Accredited as per the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard for Chemical and Mechanical Testing of Rubber and Rubber Products, HASETRI continues to pursue excellence. The institute is contributing significantly to the development of technical manpower and innovative technologies in the rubber and allied industries, thereby earning global recognition in Quality Testing.
