BYD, a leading name in the new energy vehicle (NEV) sector, concluded the year 2023 on a high note, smashing its annual sales target with over 3 million units sold. This achievement marks BYD’s second consecutive year as the global NEV sales champion. Additionally, the company made its first appearance in the global top 10 car sales rankings.
In a remarkable performance, December 2023 saw BYD selling 341,043 vehicles, representing a 45% increase compared to previous periods. The year’s total sales volume reached 3,024,417 units, showing a significant 61.9% increase from 2022.
BYD’s Global Expansion and Export Success
2023 was a pivotal year for BYD’s expansion into international markets. The company’s exports grew by an astounding 334.2%, totaling 242,765 units, extending its reach to over 70 countries across six continents. This global presence, underpinned by BYD’s commitment to eco-friendly and efficient mobility solutions and backed by top-tier global partners, has led to widespread consumer adoption and numerous product accolades.
BYD’s Diverse and Successful Product Range
BYD also expanded its product range in 2023, which includes the Dynasty series, Ocean series, DENZA, FANGCHENGBAO, and YANGWANG. This diverse portfolio has cemented BYD’s standing in the global new energy market.
The Dynasty and Ocean series alone sold 2,877,353 units, a 55.3% increase from 2022. The DENZA brand also saw significant success, with 127,840 units sold, led by the DENZA D9 as the annual MPV sales champion. The upcoming OTA update for the DENZA N7 is anticipated to further highlight BYD’s leadership in intelligent vehicle technology.
The newly launched YANGWANG and FANGCHENGBAO, which started deliveries in November 2023, have received positive market reception. The YANGWANG U8 has become a top seller in the million-level NEV segment, while the BAO 5 has made a strong entry into the off-road vehicle segment.
