Tata Motors Reports 23% Sales Growth in October 2026, Delivers 75,426 Passenger Vehicles

Mumbai: Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. reported total passenger vehicle sales of 75,426 units in October 2026, marking a 23% year-on-year increase from 61,295 units sold in October 2025. The growth was supported by higher domestic demand, a sharp increase in international sales and a significant rise in electric vehicle volumes.

Domestic passenger vehicle sales reached 73,894 units, compared with 61,134 units in the corresponding month last year, representing growth of 21%. The increase of 12,760 units highlights the domestic market’s substantial contribution to the company’s overall sales performance.

International passenger vehicle sales recorded an even more dramatic percentage increase, rising 852% to 1,532 units from just 161 units in October 2025. While the percentage growth is striking, it comes from a relatively small base, with overseas volumes continuing to represent a modest portion of Tata Motors’ overall passenger vehicle business.

Electric Vehicle Sales Surge 75%

Electric vehicles emerged as another important contributor to Tata Motors’ October performance. Combined domestic and international EV sales increased 75% year-on-year to 16,244 units, compared with 9,286 units in October 2025.

The increase of 6,958 electric vehicles indicates stronger sales momentum in the company’s EV portfolio. Electric vehicles accounted for approximately 21.5% of Tata Motors’ total passenger vehicle sales during the month, meaning more than one in every five passenger vehicles sold by the company was electric.

The reported EV figures include sales by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd.

PV International Business1,532161+852%
PV Total (including EVs)75,42661,295+23%
EV Domestic + International16,2449,286+75%

The overall increase of 14,131 passenger vehicles compared with October 2025 reflects growth across all reported business segments.

Domestic sales remained the principal volume driver, while international operations and electric vehicles registered substantially higher percentage growth. The combination suggests that the company’s October performance was not dependent on a single business segment, although the domestic market continued to account for the overwhelming majority of total sales.

What October’s Sales Figures Indicate

Tata Motors’ October 2026 sales figures highlight the growing importance of electrification alongside conventional passenger vehicle demand. With EV sales expanding considerably faster than overall passenger vehicle volumes, the electric segment is becoming an increasingly meaningful component of the company’s monthly sales mix.

However, a single month’s performance does not necessarily establish a sustained trend, particularly for international sales, where comparisons with a small previous-year base can produce unusually large percentage changes.

For Tata Motors, the broader significance of October’s performance lies in its simultaneous growth across domestic, international and electric vehicle operations. Sustaining that momentum in the coming months will be an important measure of the company’s competitive position in India’s evolving passenger vehicle market.
