Honda Cars India Reports 8,082 Total Sales in October 2026 as Domestic Demand Grows 19%

New Delhi: Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) reported total sales of 8,082 units in October 2026, with domestic sales rising 19% year-on-year to 7,609 units, supported by festive-season demand and customer interest in the recently launched New Honda Elevate. However, exports declined sharply to 473 units, highlighting a contrasting performance between the company’s domestic and international operations.

The Japanese automaker had recorded domestic sales of 6,394 units in October 2025, representing an increase of 1,215 units this year. The growth comes amid what the company described as positive customer sentiment during the festive period, traditionally an important sales window for India’s automobile industry.

Despite the improvement in domestic volumes, Honda’s combined sales declined approximately 23.2% from 10,518 units in October 2025. The decrease was primarily attributable to exports, which fell nearly 88.5% from 4,124 units in the corresponding month last year.

New Honda Elevate Contributes to Festive Sales Momentum

According to Honda Cars India, the New Honda Elevate played an important role in supporting October’s domestic sales performance. The company attributed the SUV’s reception to its updated styling, enhanced features and appeal among buyers seeking vehicles in India’s competitive SUV segment.

Commenting on the monthly performance, Kunal Behl, Vice President, Marketing & Sales, Honda Cars India Ltd., said, “We are delighted with our strong sales performance in October, driven by robust festive demand and positive customer sentiment across our model line-up.”

He further added, “The highlight of the month has been the outstanding performance of the New Honda Elevate, which has received an overwhelming response from customers following its recent launch.”

Behl also expressed confidence in the broader Honda portfolio, noting that encouraging customer interest across its models has strengthened the company’s outlook for the coming months.

Domestic Growth Offers Encouragement Despite Export Slowdown

Honda’s October results illustrate the differing trends shaping its business. While festive demand provided a welcome lift to domestic showrooms, the export figures offered considerably less reason for celebration.

The company’s domestic growth suggests that its current model portfolio, particularly the updated Elevate, continues to attract buyers. However, the significant contraction in exports weighed heavily on overall volumes, preventing the domestic improvement from translating into year-on-year growth in total sales.

Honda has not provided a specific explanation for the export decline in its October sales announcement.

Looking ahead, the company’s ability to maintain domestic sales momentum beyond the festive season will be an important indicator of sustained customer demand. Equally significant will be the trajectory of its export business, which experienced a substantial year-on-year contraction.

For Honda Cars India, October 2026 delivered a mixed result: stronger domestic demand and a positive response to its updated SUV, offset by a steep decline in overseas shipments. The coming months will determine whether the domestic recovery can gather enough momentum to support broader growth across the company’s operations.
