Beijing: Xiaomi Auto has launched the new Xiaomi SkyNomad Series, a four-model family of intelligent, reconfigurable, large-space SUVs, with prices starting from RMB 209,900. Unveiled at the Xiaomi Fall Flagship Launch Event, the line-up includes the five-seat SkyNomad N70 Pro and N70 Max, the seven-seat SkyNomad N90 Max, and the more unconventional SkyNomad N90 Max Studio, which turns the SUV into something closer to a mobile apartment than a conventional car.
Built on the Xiaomi Kunlun Platform, the SkyNomad range is aimed at buyers looking for extended-range capability, flexible interiors, advanced assisted-driving hardware and large-cabin practicality. Xiaomi is positioning the N70 Pro as the entry point into the family, the N70 Max as an all-wheel-drive five-seat benchmark, the N90 Max as a seven-seat flagship for family and business use, and the N90 Max Studio as a factory-built mobile personal space for professionals.
The SkyNomad N70 measures 4,960mm in length, 1,998mm in width and has a 2,950mm wheelbase. Xiaomi says the SUV follows its design philosophy of “design that stands the test of time,” with a short front overhang, long rear overhang, clean body surfacing and a boxy silhouette designed to maximise interior space.
The N70 gets signature dragonfly headlights with a high-beam range of up to 624 metres and low-beam coverage of 180 degrees. At the rear, halo taillights with an inverted U-shaped design give the SUV a wide and recognisable stance.
The model will be offered in six exterior colours: Valley Blue, Mountain Green, Pearl White, Volcanic Gray, Obsidian Black and Light Khaki. The cabin gets three interior themes — Cream Beige, Mocha Brown and Nightscape Black.
Inside, Xiaomi has leaned heavily into a home-like cabin experience. The N70 features a cabinet-style centre console, a sliding centre console, up to 33 storage compartments, a 1,530mm full-width dashboard display and 6.14 square metres of glass area. A 256-colour digital light curtain ambient lighting system uses diffuse reflection to create what Xiaomi describes as a theatre-like atmosphere.
The company says 95 percent of high-touch surfaces in the cabin are soft-wrapped. The OEKO-TEX-certified interior is described as suitable for direct skin contact, including for infants under three. The SUV also gets a heat pump air-conditioning system and independent B-pillar vents for the second row.
Space is the headline act. The N70 has a flat floor from the first and second rows to the boot, with a 2.95-degree incline, a flat area of 4.01 square metres and a maximum flat-floor length of 2.58 metres. Five extra-long sliding rails are fitted, with the longest measuring 1.56 metres. The second-row seats can slide by up to 600mm.
With the second row in its standard position, legroom is 1,010mm and headroom is 1,021mm. With the second row pushed fully back, legroom rises to 1,410mm. Xiaomi says this is 50 percent more than comparably sized vehicles. The boot offers 1,203 litres of cargo space in standard form and 2,425 litres with the second-row seats folded flat — enough, according to Xiaomi, for up to 38 twenty-inch suitcases. That is less a luggage compartment and more a small logistics department.
The N70 also supports several one-touch cabin modes. These include Family Tea Break, where the front seats rotate rearward for face-to-face meals or tea; Family Playground, which creates a larger family zone; Maximum Cargo mode; and First-Class Mode, which prioritises rear-seat legroom.
Comfort features include front seats with 15-layer stacked seatback construction, 16-point massage, ventilation and heating. Options include massage seats, zero-gravity seats and rotating seats. A 9-litre onboard refrigerator can hold up to 10 cans of 330ml Coca-Cola and supports heating and cooling through an independent compressor.
The N70 Pro comes standard with a 14-speaker sound system, including a 200mm subwoofer and two headrest speakers. The N70 Max gets Xiaomi’s self-developed Astral Sound System, with 25 speakers, a 7.1.4 acoustic layout, 4,890W peak power and seven titanium-dome tweeters.
Both N70 variants use Xiaomi’s Kunlun Hyper Range System. The N70 Pro gets a 52kWh lithium iron phosphate Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery, offering a CLTC pure-electric range of 351km and a combined CLTC range of up to 1,351km. It uses front-wheel drive and accelerates from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.
The N70 Max gets dual-motor all-wheel drive and a 76kWh ternary lithium Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery. It has a CLTC pure-electric range of 505km and a combined CLTC range of 1,461km. Xiaomi claims a 0-100km/h time of 5.5 seconds, a 20-80 percent charging time as fast as 18 minutes, and up to 310km of CLTC range added in 15 minutes.
Fuel consumption in depleted-battery mode is rated at 5.7L/100km for the N70 Pro and 6.1L/100km for the N70 Max. The range extender requires its first service after three years or 30,000km, and the line-up supports 92, 95 and 98 octane petrol.
The N70 uses a front double-wishbone independent suspension and rear integrated multi-link independent suspension. The N70 Max adds five-level adjustable air suspension with continuously variable damping. Xiaomi says the N70 has a turning radius of 5.67 metres and a 100-0km/h braking distance of 38.25 metres.
On the technology front, the N70 gets Xiaomi Super EEA electronic architecture, the third-generation Snapdragon 8 mobile platform, and the NVIDIA Thor-U assisted-driving chip with 700 TOPS of computing power. The SUV supports an 8.88-inch instrument display, a 16.1-inch central screen and an optional 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen.
Xiaomi’s Hyper XiaoAi AI Voice Assistant covers 95 percent of vehicle control functions, according to the company. It can coordinate seats, lighting, air-conditioning and audio for cabin scenarios through single voice commands, including a stargazing mode. The company also says Apple device compatibility has been improved.
The full line-up comes standard with LiDAR, 4D millimetre-wave radar and Xiaomi Hyper Assisted Driving with XLA architecture. Xiaomi says the vehicles include 25 safety assistance features, including Autonomous Emergency Braking and Autonomous Emergency Steering.
Safety equipment on the N70 includes Xiaomi Kunlun Total Safety, a steel-aluminium hybrid body structure with high-strength steel and aluminium alloy making up 91.3 percent of the construction. The vehicle uses 2,200MPa ultra-high-strength steel in 14 locations and comes standard with nine airbags and nine collision sensors.
The door handles feature a triple-redundant design, intended to allow door opening even if a collision cuts vehicle power. The N70 also gets a Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery with 18 layers of structural safety protection and up to 16 layers of thermal safety protection. The SUV offers up to 650mm of wading capability and supports emergency floating escape.
The larger SkyNomad N90 Max is positioned as a seven-seat flagship extended-range SUV. It measures 5,285mm in length, 1,998mm in width and has a 3,080mm wheelbase. It is available in seven colours, including an N90 Max-exclusive Maroon Red.
The N90 Max adopts a 2+2+3 seating layout and is pitched as both a business and family flagship. Xiaomi calls it the next-generation “Land Business Class,” a phrase that may raise eyebrows in airline lounges but neatly explains the intent. The SUV supports four-seat zero-gravity seating, with zero-gravity modes for both the front and second rows.
The front seats can be configured as zero-gravity seats or rotating seats with a table. Xiaomi says the latter can turn the cabin into an interactive lounge for family meals, project discussions, contract signing or laptop work.
For family use, the N90 Max can accommodate seven people and seven twenty-inch suitcases. Second-row legroom is 950mm, while the third row offers 890mm of legroom and 962mm of headroom. The centre aisle to the third row is 180mm wide, and the doors open nearly 90 degrees with electric side steps.
In maximum cargo mode, Xiaomi says the N90 Max can carry two 700C road bikes with full cycling gear without removing the wheels.
The N90 Max uses the same Xiaomi Kunlun Hyper Range System, with dual-motor all-wheel drive, a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds and a top speed of 190km/h. It gets a 76kWh ternary lithium Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery, delivering a CLTC pure-electric range of 464km and a combined range of up to 1,705km. Xiaomi says this enables a non-stop journey from Shanghai to Beijing, a distance of more than 1,000km, without recharging. WLTC depleted-battery fuel consumption is rated at 6.26L/100km.
The N90 Max comes standard with air springs and continuously variable damping shock absorbers, along with front double-wishbone and rear integrated multi-link independent suspension.
In the cabin, the N90 Max features a 16.1-inch 3K central screen, 20-inch HUD, 8.88-inch instrument display, 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, rear mobile control screen and an expandable pad on the front passenger seatback. Xiaomi says this enables six-screen connectivity.
The SUV also features a rear-facing solid-state LiDAR with maximum ranging accuracy of 2cm, aimed at improving parking assistance in complex scenarios. Safety features include Xiaomi Kunlun Total Safety, extensive use of 2,200MPa ultra-high-strength steel, a 2,200MPa embedded roll cage, 12 airbags, triple-redundant door handles, up to 750mm of wading capability and 160km/h tyre blowout stability control.
The most unusual model in the range is the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max Studio. Based on the N90 Max, it features a factory-integrated electric lifting cabin roof, creating a two-level loft-style interior when raised.
The roof height increase is limited to 100mm when closed, and Xiaomi claims a drag coefficient of Cd 0.245 for the large extended-range SUV. When raised, the total roof height reaches up to 2,294mm, allowing adults up to 1.8 metres tall to stand upright at the lowest point in the rear. The second-level activity area measures 2,110mm by 985mm, with a maximum bed board length of 1,946mm and a load capacity of up to 200kg.
The raised roof includes three sides with five mesh screens, an openable forward-facing screen, 1.7 square metres of window area, air-conditioning vents, an 18W charging port and magnetic mounting points. A 30mm comfort mattress is also included.
The N90 Max Studio has a redesigned five-seat cabin with a second row that can turn into a bed in 30 seconds. The bed measures 1.87 metres in length and 1.24 metres in width. The second row uses a 40:60 split design, allowing either side to independently transform into a bed.
The Studio variant also features a factory wood-grain aluminium-alloy floor covering 1.7 square metres, with integrated floor heating and three temperature settings up to 38 degrees Celsius. Other features include heat pump air-conditioning, a heated steering wheel, heated seats, and a refrigerator that can also heat.
A 30-inch cinematic projection system is available, with a viewing distance of up to 1,096mm when the second row is pushed fully back. The vehicle also includes a privacy screen mode, a floating nightstand with 220V and 15V outlets, a 20-litre built-in cabinet, and an 11.5-inch vanity mirror with a 4,000K ring light.
For the N90 Max Studio, Xiaomi is clearly targeting a niche that includes campers, content creators, mobile professionals and buyers who believe a car should do more than commute, carry and complain about traffic.
Mechanically, the N90 Max Studio shares much of its flagship hardware with the N90 Max. It gets dual-motor all-wheel drive, a 0-100km/h time of 5.9 seconds, a 76kWh ternary lithium Xiaomi Armor Scale Battery, a CLTC pure-electric range of 462km and a combined CLTC range of 1,688km.
With the SkyNomad series, Xiaomi Auto is pushing beyond the traditional SUV brief of seats, screens and boot space. The new range places cabin flexibility, long-distance range, safety technology and digital integration at the centre of the product. Whether the market sees the SkyNomad as a family SUV, business lounge, camping companion or mobile studio, Xiaomi’s latest launch shows how quickly the definition of the modern car is being stretched — quite literally, in the case of the lifting-roof Studio.
