Hyundai Invites Artists and Artisans for ₹60 Lakh Art for Hope Grants; Applications Close November 15

Gurugram: Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the corporate social responsibility arm of Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), has announced the sixth season of its flagship Art for Hope initiative, offering 50 grants collectively worth ₹60 lakh to support artists, artisans and creative projects across India. Applications are open until November 15, 2026, with selected participants receiving financial assistance, mentorship and opportunities to exhibit their work on a national platform.

The latest edition, themed ‘India in Motion’, seeks to capture the changing cultural, social and creative landscape of a rapidly evolving country. From traditional craftsmanship to contemporary digital expression, the initiative invites creative practitioners to interpret India’s progress, aspirations and diversity through their work.

The programme is open to individual artists, artisans, creative collectives and institutions, with particular emphasis on providing opportunities to emerging talent and communities that face barriers to participation in the arts.

50 Grants Across Six Artistic Categories

Art for Hope Season 6 will accept applications across six categories: Visual Art, Digital Art, Performing Art, Traditional Art & Craft, Functional Art and Multidisciplinary Projects.

The categories reflect an effort to accommodate a broad spectrum of artistic expression, combining established traditions with newer creative disciplines. In other words, there is room for both the paintbrush and the pixel.

Selected grantees will receive financial support alongside mentorship, national visibility and an opportunity to present their work at the Art for Hope Festival.

The foundation said the programme will continue its ‘Art without Barriers’ approach, encouraging applications from women, rural artisans, traditional and folk artists, underserved communities and persons with disabilities.

Hyundai Highlights Cultural Inclusion and Community Development

Commenting on the announcement, Tarun Garg, MD & CEO – HMIL, said, “At Hyundai, our global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity’ goes beyond mobility to create opportunities that empower people and communities. Through ‘Art for Hope’, we have awarded over INR 2.20 crore in grants, supported 200+ artists across India and helped preserve more than 75 traditional and folk-art forms. With Season 6 providing grants worth a total of INR 60 lakh, we look forward to enabling creative voices that reflect the aspirations, diversity and dynamism of a rapidly evolving Bharat. Guided by the virtues of Trust. Pride. Progress. we remain committed to fostering cultural inclusion, creativity and community development through art.”

The statement underscores Hyundai’s intention to extend its social development activities beyond its core automotive business, using cultural initiatives to support creative livelihoods and community participation.

Art for Hope Has Supported More Than 200 Artists Across India

Since its inception, Art for Hope has awarded grants exceeding ₹2.20 crore, supporting more than 200 artists across 22 States and Union Territories.

According to the foundation, the initiative has also helped promote more than 75 traditional and folk-art forms, contributing to efforts to sustain artistic practices and improve visibility for regional creative communities.

Its annual festivals have attracted over 35,000 visitors, with 61% attending an art exhibition for the first time. The events have additionally supported more than 100 artisan and non-governmental organisation stalls, creating opportunities for participating craftspeople and community organisations to reach wider audiences.

These figures illustrate the programme’s expanding reach, particularly among audiences and practitioners who may have limited access to established art institutions.

What Does the ‘India in Motion’ Theme Represent?

The sixth season’s theme explores how India’s ongoing transformation is influencing identities, communities and creative expression.

Artists are encouraged to examine the relationship between progress, aspiration, innovation and inclusion, drawing inspiration from experiences in both urban and rural India.

Rather than restricting participants to a particular artistic style or interpretation, the theme provides scope for projects addressing cultural change, traditional knowledge, contemporary life and emerging social possibilities.

The inclusion of multidisciplinary projects also allows applicants to combine different artistic practices, reflecting the increasingly interconnected nature of contemporary creative work.

How to Apply for Hyundai Art for Hope Season 6

Applications for Art for Hope Season 6 must be submitted through the official website, hyundaiartforHope.com, by November 15, 2026.

Interested artists, artisans and creative collectives can access the application process online and submit proposals under the relevant artistic category.

With 50 grants available, the programme offers participants an opportunity to secure funding while gaining access to mentorship and exhibition platforms.

Supporting India’s Creative Future

India’s artistic heritage spans centuries, but sustaining traditional practices and creating opportunities for emerging talent remain important challenges, particularly outside major cultural centres.

Initiatives such as Art for Hope can help bridge that gap by connecting financial assistance with public exposure and opportunities for artistic development.

As Hyundai Motor India Foundation opens its sixth season, the significance of the programme extends beyond the ₹60 lakh grant allocation. Its broader contribution will depend on whether the support helps participating artists reach new audiences, sustain their practices and build lasting creative opportunities.

For a country constantly redefining itself, ensuring that its artists have a voice in documenting that transformation is an investment in cultural continuity as much as creative progress.
