Poissy, 11 December 2023 – Citroën is renewing its iconic Berlingo model and taking it to a whole new level. With its modern, expressive styling coming from its new front end, Berlingo offers an on-board experience worthy of a saloon in terms of driving pleasure, comfort and technology. More than ever, it meets the expectations of all customers with active lifestyles, with further optimised comfort thanks to Citroën Advanced Comfort seats, along with latest-generation infotainment system and connectivity. New Berlingo retains its practicality and modularity, as well as its ability to carry up to 7 people.

As the inventor of the leisure van, Citroën has always offered its customers a robust model that suits them and adapts to their every need. Berlingo is a popular model that has built its success on its versatility and an expression of user-friendliness. Over time, Berlingo has progressed in comfort and style, while confirming its status as a benchmark in the market, offering genuine expertise in terms of architecture and on-board space, ingenuity and practicality. With Berlingo, Citroën offers a solution that guarantees a great deal of freedom and peace of mind to accompany families, senior citizens and working people of all kinds in a fulfilling, multifaceted active life.

In Europe, Berlingo is available in electric version only, whose range has increased to 320 km (WLTP combined cycle currently being certified) thanks to a new 50 kWh LFP battery (useful capacity). An ideal solution for customers and families, with a wide range of leisure activities and concerned about the environmental impact of their choices. Customers who tend to live in suburban or provincial areas, who are more likely to be able to recharge at home, and who want to control their running costs.

1- DESIGN: A MODERN BERLINGO, FULL OF CHARACTER

On the outside, Citroën’s new design. The front of the new Berlingo has been completely redesigned, adopting the Brand’s new visual identity. More vertical with larger features, it expresses plenty of power and modernity. The grille and bumper form a single block, at the centre of which appears Citroën’s new oval logo.

On either side of the logo, a striped black band echoes the chevron pattern, demonstrating attention to detail and adding a touch of refinement. This connects the logo to the new headlamps, which feature Citroën’s new three-segment light signature with a vertical bar and two horizontal bars that resemble blades. This signature gives Berlingo a distinctive, technological look.

This band and the various lower grilles form layers structure the front end and reinforce the sense of width, helping to underpin a confident, assertive character. On Advanced Comfort XTR Pack, the centre of the bumper features an aluminium-effect skid plate, for a version that proclaims its adventurous side. It features colour animations in the form of Infrared red stickers on each side, in the form of a vertical line that contrasts with the horizontal lines consistent with the vertical bar of the light signature. These stickers are also found on the airbumps on the sides of the car. The latter are the car’s graphic signature, adding fluidity to a muscular silhouette marked by well-defined flanks.

Roof racks are available on the higher trim level and two wheel sizes are available: 16’’ and 17’’. The falling line at the rear of the roof gives the car a dynamic silhouette. New Berlingo is available in five body colours, including the new Kiama Blue and Sirkka Green, which complement Kaolin White, Perla Nera Black and Steel Grey.

Inside, the styling has evolved to enhance ergonomics. The all-new dashboard is distinguished first and foremost by its generous volume, which conveys a sense of quality and robustness. Its design highlights the technology symbolised by the new high-definition 10-inch central touchscreen (see below), ideally positioned high up, and a new configurable digital instrument cluster.

The upper part features a gigantic Top Box glove box, made possible by the installation of the Airbag in the roof. The lower part of the centre console, containing the gearshift and driving mode selection functions, the electric parking brake, the Start button and 2 USB ports, also houses an innovative storage compartment which can be used for inductive smartphone charging.

Also new is the steering wheel, optionally heated, featuring a new rim style with a slight flat at the bottom, and a more graphic central boss with the new Citroën logo at its centre. It incorporates controls for the audio system and cruise control. Finally, the overall quality of the interior finish has been improved.

2- LIFE ON BOARD: ALL THE COMFORT OF CITROEN, PLUS PRACTICALITY

Berlingo is an ingenious vehicle with first-class interior space and functionality, making life on board easy and enjoyable.

New CITROËN Advanced Comfort Seats®. With a view to improve comfort, new Berlingo adopts Advanced Comfort® front seats for the first time. Exclusive to Citroën, their sophisticated architecture combined with specific high-quality foam and side supports guarantee a high level of comfort. What’s more, their special fabric and three-colour finish are particularly stylish and elegant. In the centre of the cushion and backrest the quilted effect is highly visual and a source of comfort. The backrest design is enlivened by a U-shaped band of colour on the backrest, while the sides of the seats are highlighted by piping in the same colour.

Three individual rear seats. New Berlingo combines optimum passenger comfort with exceptional modularity, with three independent, sliding and folding seats in row 2. It continues to be available in two sizes, M (4.40 m long) and XL (4.75 m long), the latter allowing two additional optional seats in row 3. With the front passenger seat folded down, the floor is completely flat and the load length extends to 2.70 m for the M version and 3.05 m for the XL version – ideal for carrying long objects.

Modutop®, always at the top! New Berlingo retains the Modutop® multifunction roof, which incorporates the translucent arch, the rear roof box, ambient lighting and the blackout panoramic glass roof with electric blinds. In all, the new Berlingo offers 27 stowage compartments spread around the cabin, with a total volume of up to 186 litres.

Opening rear window. A rare feature in the segment, the new Berlingo has a rear window that opens independently of the tailgate, making it particularly practical for quickly loading or unloading small items into or out of the boot, the modutop storage compartment or the luggage compartment shelf, which can hold up to 25 kg.

The same generous interior volume, whatever the powertrain. Modular and spacious, the load space of the new Berlingo varies from 775 litres (volume under the parcel shelf, Berlingo size M) to 4,000 litres (total volume under the roof, Berlingo size XL). The underfloor installation of ë-Berlingo’s batteries means that these loading capacities are always maintained. Access to the Berlingo is simplified by the two large sliding side doors equipped with electric windows.

3- CONNECTIVITY AND DRIVER ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS: EVERYDAY PLEASURE AND CONVENIENCE

New Berlingo takes on a new dimension in terms of on-board connectivity for users who expect their vehicle to be an extension of their multimedia environment, with two levels of 10″ touchscreen in the centre of the new dashboard, each associated with a new Citroën multimedia system that can be controlled from them:

The new My Citroën Play infotainment system, featuring a standard 10″ screen, lets you listen to the radio, and manage your phone or the car’s functions. It features a wireless smartphone replication function, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ergonomically designed, it also displays the reversing camera. This infotainment system is combined with a new black and white digital instrument cluster located behind the steering wheel.

The new My Citroën Drive Plus system, featuring a high-definition 10″ screen…. Available with connected 3D navigation, it is extremely easy to use. Its system, inspired by smartphone widgets, lets you manage the various media functions. It offers a natural, fluid and easy voice recognition system, providing a genuine on-board assistant  in Berlingo. The high-definition screen can also be used to project the rear-view camera with Top Rear Vision function. This infotainment system is combined with a new 10″ colour digital instrument cluster, with an optimised, customisable display of essential information, including that from the navigation system and information relating to energy flow and recharging.

A handy wireless smartphone charger is located on the centre console, and two USB sockets are also available.

Berlingo is a leisure van that has nothing to envy from ‘classic’ saloon cars, since it offers up to 18 driving assistance technologies, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Electric Parking Brake, Rear View Camera with Top Rear Vision, Grip Control with Hill Assist Descent and Towbar Stability Control.

New Berlingo also offers easier parking thanks to sensors, of which there are now 12, shared between the front and rear of the vehicle. In addition, images from the rear-view camera of the Top Rear Vision system are now displayed in high definition on the new Berlingo’s 10-inch central screen.

4- POWERTRAINS: EVER GREATER VERSATILITY

To guarantee even greater versatility, the New ë-Berlingo benefits from extended range. With its powerful 100 kW (136 bhp) motor, combined with a new 50 kWh LFP battery (useful capacity), the new ë-Berlingo now offers a range of up to 320 km (WLTP combined cycle – undergoing approval). This figure is 20% up on the previous model, and is the result of major efforts to improve efficiency, making ë-Berlingo a benchmark in its segment. This range is perfectly suited to the average daily mileage covered by this type of customers.

This range can be further optimised thanks to the new regenerative braking system, which the driver can set to one of three levels using new paddles located behind the steering wheel. In addition, three driving modes are still available: Eco for maximum range, Power for maximum performance and Normal. Finally, an innovative heat pump available as an option heats the cabin without using battery power, thereby preserving range.

ë-Berlingo is equipped with a 7.4 kW on-board charger and can be fitted with an optional 11 kW three-phase charger for easy recharging. On a 7.4 kW wallbox it can be fully recharged in 7.5 hours, while on an 11 kW wallbox it can be fully recharged in 5 hours.

And to ensure even greater peace of mind on those occasional long journeys throughout the year, ë-Berlingo has the best rapid recharge time in its segment: 30 minutes to recharge the battery from 0 to 80% at a 100 kW public charging point. As a result, it benefits from a battery whose size, mass and cost are contained for greater efficiency on short journeys throughout the year, and its 100 kW charging capacity means it can tackle journeys without stress. This feeling is further reinforced by the use of the e-ROUTES application, available on ë-Berlingo, which acts as a genuine assistant to help you organise your journey and adapt in real time to traffic conditions, the use of charging points along the route or changes in the car’s charge level.

In Europe, only the electric version of Berlingo is available. It’s a choice that makes sense, given the specific features of this voluminous silhouette to respect the environment, keep the budget under control by limiting surcharges and running costs, and suited to a suburban or provincial clientèle with easier access to recharging points. Outside Europe (or specific markets), the new Berlingo adapts to the diversity of its customer base by offering, in addition to the 100% electric drive, three BlueHDi 90, 100 and 130 bhp diesel engines and two PureTech 110 and 130 bhp petrol engines.
