Mahindra Sells 27,595 Tractors in India in August 2026, Domestic Sales Grow 5%

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.’s Farm Equipment Business reported domestic tractor sales of 27,595 units in August 2026, marking a 5% increase from 26,201 units sold during the same month last year.

The company’s total tractor sales, including domestic sales and exports, stood at 29,507 units during the month, compared with 28,117 units in August 2025.

Exports accounted for 1,912 tractors in August 2026.

Mahindra attributed the improvement in domestic demand partly to better rainfall conditions and near-normal Kharif sowing, factors that can play a significant role in influencing agricultural activity and rural purchasing sentiment.

Commenting on the performance, Veejay Nakra, President – Farm Equipment Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, “We sold 27,595 tractors in the domestic market during August 2026, a growth of 5% over last year. Steady improvement in rainfall has helped near-normal Kharif sowing. Continued support of various government schemes and the upcoming festive season should bolster rural sentiment. In the Exports market, we have sold 1,912 tractors.”

The August numbers indicate steady rather than dramatic growth for Mahindra’s tractor business, with domestic volumes adding nearly 1,400 units compared with the year-ago period. In the tractor market, where monsoons, crop conditions and rural income often matter as much as horsepower, favourable rainfall can be an important tailwind.

The company also expects government support programmes and the approaching festive season to contribute to rural sentiment in the coming months.

Mahindra & Mahindra’s Farm Equipment Business is part of the Mahindra Group and operates in the agricultural machinery and tractor segment.

The latest sales performance comes as tractor manufacturers monitor the progress of the Kharif season, rainfall distribution and rural demand closely. Sustained improvement in these factors could help determine whether the current growth momentum continues through the festive period and into the remainder of the financial year.
