BharatBenz Opens 100,000-Sq-Ft 3S Facility in Howrah, Strengthens Eastern India Network

Howrah, West Bengal: Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) has expanded the BharatBenz sales and service network in West Bengal with the opening of a new authorised dealership operated by Agile Trucking at Uluberia in Howrah, strengthening its presence along the busy Kolkata-Howrah freight and logistics corridor.

The new dealership is a 100,000-square-foot 3S facility offering sales, service and spare parts support. Located on NH-16, it has 16 bays, including 12 service bays and four accident-repair bays, and is designed to handle more than 500 commercial vehicles a month.

The facility will operate from 6 am to 10 pm and has a team of 50 trained personnel. Three Mobile Reach Vans (MRVs) will provide on-road assistance, an increasingly important service for commercial vehicle operators for whom a stationary truck generally means stationary revenue as well.

The dealership is expected to cater to fleet operators across Ranihati, Dhulagarh, Sankrail, Bagnan, Kolaghat, Haldia and Kharagpur, as well as customers in Howrah, East Medinipur and West Medinipur. Its target customer base includes businesses involved in FMCG distribution, courier services, logistics, captive transportation and regional freight movement.

NH-16 is a major national highway connecting Chennai and Kolkata and serves as an important freight artery through eastern and southern India, making the location significant for commercial vehicle servicing and parts support.

Rajiv Chaturvedi, President & Chief Business Officer, Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, said, “The new Agile Trucking dealership in Howrah strengthens our ability to deliver faster service, higher uptime, and reliable support across one of eastern India’s key logistics corridors. By bringing our services closer to customers, we are enhancing the BharatBenz ownership experience and helping fleet operators keep their businesses moving efficiently and profitably.”

Agile Trucking expands BharatBenz footprint

Agile Trucking has been part of the BharatBenz dealer network since July 2022 and is part of the CKA Birla Group’s Integrated Mining & Manufacturing Solutions (IIMS), which provides mining, infrastructure and construction solutions.

The company already operates BharatBenz dealerships in Bardhaman and Haldia. Together with the Raniganj facility inaugurated earlier this year and the newly opened Howrah outlet, Agile Trucking now has four strategically positioned touchpoints across South Bengal.

With the Howrah dealership becoming operational, BharatBenz’s overall network in West Bengal has increased to 14 touchpoints.

Vijayakumar K, CEO of Agile Trucking, said, “With this new BharatBenz facility in Howrah, our focus is to deliver faster, more dependable support to customers operating across NH-16 and nearby industrial and logistics hubs. The 16-bay setup, trained team, and Mobile Reach Vans will allow us to serve vehicles more efficiently and reduce downtime for fleet operators. We look forward to building on our partnership with DICV and supporting BharatBenz customers across Howrah, East Medinipur, and West Medinipur.”

Eastern India parts centre planned

DICV is also looking to improve spare-parts availability and delivery times in the region. BharatBenz currently operates Parts Logistics Centres (PLCs) in Oragadam near Chennai, Gurugram and Pune, and the company plans to establish a dedicated PLC for eastern India.

The proposed facility is intended to shorten parts delivery lead times and improve vehicle uptime, particularly as BharatBenz expands its service network across major freight corridors.

Parts availability and workshop turnaround times remain crucial considerations in the commercial vehicle business, where even relatively brief periods off the road can affect delivery schedules and operating economics.

Exchange and financing programmes

BharatBenz also offers vehicle exchange and pre-owned commercial vehicle services through its ‘BharatBenz Certified’ programme. Customers can exchange BharatBenz vehicles as well as commercial vehicles from other manufacturers while purchasing new BharatBenz trucks.

The programme includes vehicle evaluations and quality-assured pre-owned vehicles, according to the company.

For vehicle financing, BharatBenz has partnerships with more than 20 banks and non-banking financial companies (NBFCs), offering financing options tailored to commercial vehicle buyers.

Across India, BharatBenz now has more than 430 service workshops and touchpoints. The addition of the Howrah facility reflects the company’s continuing effort to place service capacity closer to high-volume freight routes, where convenient workshops, quicker parts supplies and shorter repair times can matter almost as much to fleet operators as the truck itself.
