Mahindra BE 6 Sporteq Brings New AI Features, Three Screens and ₹11.45 Lakh BaaS Entry Price

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra has introduced the BE 6 Sporteq, a new series based on its electric-origin BE 6 SUV, with prices starting at ₹11.45 lakh under a Battery as a Service (BaaS) model, where the battery is charged at ₹3.75 per km. The expanded range brings a three-screen digital cockpit, Google Gemini-powered conversational technology, new personalisation and entertainment features, and dedicated Launch and Formula E Freedom editions.

Deliveries of the BE 6 Sporteq are scheduled to begin on August 26, 2026, on the occasion of Onam, Mahindra said.

The Sporteq range will be offered across eight variants — One, Two, Three, Three+, Four, FE, FE Four and Launch Edition — and in 12 exterior colours. Four colours are new: Rosso Impulso, Ruby Velvet, Graphite Storm and Firestorm Orange Satin.

From the Two variant onwards, the SUV receives a three-screen coast-to-coast display stretching across the dashboard. Buyers who prefer the original BE 6’s more race-inspired layout can opt for the Sporteq Formula E Freedom Edition, which retains a two-screen cockpit and the model’s signature halo design.

The changes are not limited to dashboard real estate — although three screens should leave occupants with few excuses for claiming they missed an alert. Mahindra is also expanding the BE 6’s software capabilities through six new technology packages, or Teq Suites, powered by its Mahindra Artificial Intelligence Architecture (MAIA).

Google Gemini Comes to the BE 6

One of the more significant additions is Teq_Talk, a conversational system built with Google Gemini. According to Mahindra, it operates through 17 specialised AI agents and supports more than 100 core functions and 48 apps, including vehicle controls, navigation, music and news.

The wider technology package includes Teq_Play, which brings karaoke, an in-car gaming suite with BYOD functionality, Private Audio, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, GrooveMe Party and Milestone features.

Mahindra describes its karaoke and BYOD-based in-car gaming applications as first-of-their-kind offerings from an OEM in India.

Teq_Drive focuses on vehicle dynamics and includes Custom Drive Mode, Drift Mode, Tribe Drive, Revive and Revive SOS. The Formula E Freedom Edition additionally receives an exclusive Acceleration Boost function.

The Teq_Me suite introduces user profiles with automatic detection, while Teq_Secure adds Secure360 Pro with live viewing, audio relay and intrusion alerts.

Mahindra is also expanding its Digital Car Key system across iPhone, Apple Watch, Android and Samsung smartphones, along with NFC Key Cards. The company says this makes it the first Indian automotive OEM to offer Car Connectivity Consortium-compliant Digital Car Key functionality across multiple device ecosystems.

Teq_Secure also provides a parental lock for the third screen.

A sixth suite, Teq_xting, allows owners to create personalised tailgate messages, adding another layer of customisation to a vehicle already leaning heavily into its digital identity.

Existing Mahindra EV Owners to Receive Updates

Importantly, Mahindra said the new software and technology features introduced with Sporteq will not remain exclusive to freshly delivered vehicles.

Compatible features will be rolled out to existing BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S owners through over-the-air software updates in phases beginning January 2027. Availability will depend on the vehicle and variant.

That approach underlines Mahindra’s positioning of the BE 6 and related electric models as software-defined vehicles, where functionality can continue to evolve after the vehicle has left the showroom.

BE 6 Sporteq Launch Edition

At the top of the Sporteq range sits the Launch Edition, distinguished by an exclusive Graphite Storm exterior and a full Racing Tan leatherette interior.

The edition also incorporates the new three-screen cockpit and other technology introduced across the updated Sporteq family.

Formula E Freedom Edition Gets 6.44-Second 0-100 km/h Time

For buyers looking for a more motorsport-inspired specification, Mahindra has introduced the BE 6 Sporteq Formula E Freedom Edition.

Drawing inspiration from Mahindra Racing’s Formula E programme, the model retains the BE 6’s original headlamp design and adds a sportier exterior treatment with subtle tricolour detailing.

It will be offered in satin finishes, including the new Rosso Impulso, while the cabin receives an exclusive Black and Firestorm Orange theme, the two-screen cockpit and signature halo element.

The Freedom Edition’s Acceleration Boost function enables a claimed 0-100 km/h time of 6.44 seconds.

Mahindra linked the special edition to the recent performance of its Formula E racing programme, citing victories in Monaco and Tokyo and four pole positions for Edoardo Mortara, which it said equalled a record.

The Freedom livery and Sporteq Freedom Edition are also scheduled to be showcased together at the London E-Prix.

Mahindra Says EV Expectations Are Moving Beyond Range

Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Managing Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd. said, “Electric mobility is entering a new phase. Customers no longer judge an EV simply by its range or acceleration. They expect it to become more intelligent, more personal and more capable throughout its lifetime. Sporteq reflects that shift. Powered by MAIA, it brings together AI, personalisation, performance and entertainment in ways that make every journey more intuitive. As the BE 6 is software-defined, it has the ability to keep evolving long after customers take delivery. The future belongs to vehicles that grow with their owners. Sporteq is designed to do exactly that, delivering an ownership experience that keeps expanding the boundaries of what customers expect from an electric SUV.”

Pratap Bose, Chief Design & Creative Officer, Auto & Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said, “At Mahindra, design goes beyond styling. It encompasses not just how a product looks or feels but how customers experience it in all its aspects. This is especially true of a software-defined vehicle like the BE 6 Sporteq whose design ensures that every surface, every display and every interaction contribute to how the car makes you feel. With Sporteq, we wanted the cabin to deliver the same sense of theatre as the exterior. The new Racing Tan interior, the coast-to-coast three-screen display and every material choice have been brought together to create an environment that feels immersive, progressive and unmistakably BE 6. It is a space that celebrates technology without losing its emotional connection with the driver.”

Nalinikanth Gollagunta, Chief Executive Officer, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and Executive Director, Mahindra Electric Automobile Ltd., said, “The BE 6 has always stood for bold design, sporty character and the courage to do things differently. Sporteq builds on that foundation, combining performance-inspired experiences with intelligent technology to create the next chapter of the BE 6 story. It is about making advanced technology and everyday excitement accessible to more customers than ever before.”

BE 6 Expands Beyond Its Original Formula

Mahindra originally launched the BE 6 in November 2024, positioning it as a sport-focused electric SUV. The company says the model has since generated strong interest among customers and enthusiasts, and the Sporteq range is intended to broaden its appeal through additional technology, styling and ownership options.

With artificial intelligence, OTA upgrades and digital keys becoming increasingly prominent in new-generation vehicles, the BE 6 Sporteq shows how the competition among electric SUVs is shifting beyond battery capacity and straight-line performance. Increasingly, the question is not simply how far an EV can travel on a charge, but how much more it can learn to do after the owner has driven it home.
