Audi SQ8 Arrives in India at INR 1.77 Crore: A Luxury SUV That Blends Daily Comfort with Weekend Thrills

Mumbai — Audi has decided that India’s luxury SUV buyers deserve a little more adrenaline with their daily commute, and the result is the all-new Audi SQ8—a machine that comfortably sits between the elegant Audi Q8 and the wild Audi RS Q8. Think of it as the responsible adult who still knows how to party… occasionally very loudly.

Priced at an introductory ₹1,77,72,000 (ex-showroom), the SQ8 brings together performance, luxury and everyday usability in a package that doesn’t scream for attention—but will happily roar if provoked. Under the hood sits a 4.0-litre V8 TFSI engine producing a mighty 373 kW and 770 Nm, launching this rather large SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds. Yes, that’s sports car territory—just with more seats and significantly more luggage space for your weekend escape plans.

Audi has equipped the SQ8 with its legendary quattro all-wheel-drive system paired with a self-locking centre differential, ensuring that whether you’re cruising through Mumbai traffic or carving up a twisty hill road, the SUV remains planted and composed. Adaptive air suspension sport and all-wheel steering further enhance agility, making this big SUV feel surprisingly nimble—almost like it skipped leg day but still outruns everyone.

On the outside, the SQ8 blends aggressive styling with sophistication. HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light not only look futuristic but also ensure visibility that could probably spot potholes before your city does. Frameless doors, a panoramic sunroof and bold S-specific design elements add to its coupe-like presence, while optional 22-inch alloy wheels and carbon styling packages let buyers dial up the drama as per mood—or Instagram requirements.

Step inside, and the SQ8 transforms into a tech-laden luxury lounge. Sport seats with S embossing, Dinamica microfiber and leather upholstery, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and ambient lighting with 30 colour options create an environment that feels both sporty and indulgent. The Bang & Olufsen 3D premium sound system with 17 speakers and 730 watts ensures that whether you’re playing classical music or Punjabi beats, every drive feels like a private concert.

Technology is, unsurprisingly, at the forefront. Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus, MMI Navigation with touch response, wireless charging and a 360-degree camera system ensure that convenience is never compromised. Add to that features like power-latching doors, four-zone climate control and optional massage seats, and you begin to realise that the SQ8 is just as happy chauffeuring as it is sprinting.

Safety hasn’t taken a back seat either. With eight airbags, Audi Pre Sense Basic, cruise control with speed limiter and optional features like night vision assist and head-up display, the SQ8 aims to keep both driver and passengers secure—even when the right foot gets a little too enthusiastic.

Speaking on the launch, Balbir Singh Dhillon, Brand Director, Audi India, highlighted that the SQ8 is designed for customers who want the best of both worlds—weekday comfort and weekend excitement. And honestly, that seems to be the sweet spot Audi is targeting, especially as India’s younger luxury buyers increasingly look for performance without compromising practicality.

Available in eight exterior colours along with Audi Exclusive options, the SQ8 offers enough personalization to stand out—even in a parking lot full of luxury SUVs.

In a market where SUVs are getting bigger, smarter and faster, the Audi SQ8 makes a strong case for itself by being all three—without taking itself too seriously. After all, not every day do you get a family SUV that can outrun your neighbour’s sports car while still carrying groceries home.
