Mahindra’s August Numbers: SUVs Take a Coffee Break, Total Sales Keep the Engine Running

Mumbai: Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M Ltd.), one of India’s leading automotive companies, today reported its auto sales for August 2025 at 75,901 vehicles, essentially idling at last year’s level but refusing to stall completely.

In the SUV lane, Mahindra clocked 39,399 domestic sales, a slight -9% detour compared to the same month last year, while the total tally (including exports) reached 40,846 units. Commercial Vehicles (CVs) carried the torch with 22,427 domestic sales, proving that when SUVs nap, trucks hustle.

According to Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd., “August witnessed relatively robust demand in the SUV segment amidst anticipated GST rate changes. This month, Mahindra reported 7.4% YoY growth in PV Vahan registrations. In our commercial vehicles segment, Vahan registrations grew by 16% YoY (<7.5T LCV category). With the final GST announcement approaching, we consciously decided to bring down the wholesale billing to minimize the stock being carried by our dealers. We look forward to the GST rationalisation, which would be a demand driver through the festive season.”

While SUVs might have taken a breather, Mahindra’s overall 75,901-unit performance proves that the automaker still knows how to balance the throttle—keeping its wheels firmly on the road as it awaits the GST gear shift.
