CEAT Goes Full Metal Radial: Unveils Rockrad Tyre Built for the Mines, Not the Faint-Hearted

Mumbai: In an industry where the rubber truly meets the rock, CEAT has officially thrown down the gauntlet—tyre-first—into the mining segment with the launch of Rockrad, its maiden mining-specific radial tyre. Engineered for conditions where even goats think twice, the Rockrad is CEAT’s bold foray into the rugged world of load-haul combat zones, otherwise known as mines.

After rigorous testing in the iron-willed mines of Barbil (Odisha) and the volcanic playgrounds of Indonesia, CEAT is confident that Rockrad doesn’t just tread over rough terrain—it owns it. This radial beast is equipped with an S-Type tread pattern that grips the ground like it’s holding onto a grudge. Add to that a reinforced sidewall compound that laughs in the face of cuts and tears, and you have a tyre that’s as tough as the men who drive dumpers at 4 AM.

“Bias tyres may have held the fort for decades, but with Rockrad, we’re not just joining the radial revolution—we’re kickstarting it with steel belts and a vengeance,” said a CEAT executive, possibly while tossing a bias tyre over his shoulder in slow motion.

Internally, the tyre boasts a sidewall compound so advanced, it’s basically the Michelin-star chef of impact resistance. CEAT claims up to 7% better bead durability than the nearest competitor—a stat that’s sure to send rival engineers back to the drawing board, or at least the donut table. And for those worried about heat, Rockrad dissipates it better than your air conditioner during an Indian summer.

Available initially in the 11.00R20 size (because let’s not get carried away), the Rockrad will roll out across India’s mining belt—Odisha, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu—essentially anywhere the ground gets angry and trucks get testy.

What’s more, by lasting longer and wasting less, Rockrad isn’t just a business move—it’s a green one too. Because apparently, saving the Earth while digging it up is now a CEAT-approved concept.

So, whether you’re hauling limestone, chasing iron ore, or just flexing on a quarry road, CEAT’s Rockrad is ready to roll—with steel in its veins and gravel in its soul.
