Automobili Lamborghini is set to revolutionize the luxury SUV segment in India with the launch of the Urus SE on August 9th. This new model marks Lamborghini’s ambitious move towards complete hybridization, being the first Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) in the company’s lineup. The Urus SE aims to redefine the standards of comfort, performance, efficiency, emissions, and driving experience in the Super SUV category.
The Urus SE features a revised 4.0-litre V8 engine with biturbo charging, paired seamlessly with an electric drivetrain. The V8 engine alone produces an impressive 620 CV (456 kW) and 800 Nm of torque. The electric motor contributes an additional 192 CV (141 kW) and 483 Nm of torque. Together, they deliver a combined output of 800 CV (588 kW), ensuring an optimal power curve across all driving modes and surfaces. The vehicle is equipped with a 25.9 kWh lithium-ion battery, strategically placed under the charging floor and above the electronically controlled rear axle differential to maximize efficiency.
Since its inception, the Urus has embodied Lamborghini’s distinctive design DNA, characterized by its sharp, retracting side windows and hexagonal window lines. The latest iteration of the Urus enhances these features with a design update focused on optimizing aerodynamic efficiency and performance. The new aesthetic accentuates the SUV’s dynamic silhouette and low-slung muscularity, complemented by newly designed 23-inch wheels.
“Our objective was to elevate an already stunning vehicle by enhancing its performance, elegance, and luxurious interior feel. The new design follows our ‘essential and iconic’ philosophy, resulting in a harmonious and striking appearance. Inspired by the Revuelto, we introduced a floating bonnet for a cleaner, more muscular front design. The Urus SE offers a customizable, elegant vehicle with increased Ad Personam options, placing the customer at the core of the Urus experience,” said Mitja Borkert, Director of Design at Automobili Lamborghini.
The Urus SE’s front end features a new bonnet with a strong power dome, devoid of the classic separating joint, echoing the design language of the Revuelto. This creates a purist, athletic look. Other updates include wide headlights with Matrix LED technology and a new iconic light signature. At the rear, the Urus SE presents a broader stance with a new diffuser and integrated number plate, enhanced by a sporty, matte black hexagonal graphic inspired by the Lamborghini Gallardo.
As Lamborghini prepares to launch the Urus SE in India, it promises to set a new benchmark for luxury hybrid SUVs, blending unparalleled performance with cutting-edge design and technology.
