Mumbai: Tata Motors Limited reported a 27% year-on-year increase in commercial vehicle sales in October 2026, selling 47,652 units across domestic and international markets, compared with 37,530 units in the corresponding month last year. The growth was supported by higher domestic volumes and a sharp expansion in international business, which recorded a 225% increase.
According to sales figures released by the company on November 1, domestic commercial vehicle sales reached 39,784 units in October 2026, up 13% from 35,108 units in October 2025. International business contributed 7,868 units, compared with 2,422 units a year earlier, marking the strongest percentage growth among the reported categories.
The figures suggest that while India’s commercial vehicle market continued to provide a substantial sales base, overseas markets played an important role in accelerating Tata Motors’ overall performance.
International Business Leads Growth with 225% Surge
Tata Motors’ international commercial vehicle business emerged as the standout performer in October, recording sales of 7,868 units against 2,422 units in the same month last year.
This represents an increase of 5,446 units, accounting for more than half of the company’s total year-on-year volume growth of 10,122 units.
The substantial rise in international sales helped lift overall growth to 27%, considerably higher than the 13% expansion recorded in the domestic market.
Although the company did not provide a market-wise breakdown or identify the factors behind the international increase in the supplied sales statement, the figures underline the growing contribution of overseas business to its monthly commercial vehicle volumes.
Heavy Trucks and Passenger Carriers Record Double-Digit Growth
Within the domestic market, Tata Motors recorded growth across all four reported commercial vehicle categories.
Heavy Commercial Vehicle (HCV) truck sales increased 12% to 12,030 units in October 2026, compared with 10,737 units in October 2025.
Intermediate and Light Medium Commercial Vehicle (ILMCV) truck sales rose 17%, reaching 7,213 units against 6,169 units a year earlier.
Passenger carriers registered the highest percentage growth among domestic categories, increasing 20% from 3,184 units to 3,826 units.
Meanwhile, small commercial vehicle (SCV) cargo and pickup sales climbed 11% to 16,715 units, compared with 15,018 units in October 2025. The segment remained the largest domestic category by volume, representing approximately 42% of total domestic commercial vehicle sales.
From heavy-duty trucks to smaller cargo carriers, the positive sales figures were spread across the portfolio rather than being confined to a single segment.
Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle Sales Grow 16%
Tata Motors also reported a 16% year-on-year increase in domestic sales of medium and heavy intermediate commercial vehicles (MH&ICV), with volumes reaching 19,263 units in October 2026, compared with 16,624 units in October 2025.
Including international markets, MH&ICV sales stood at 20,712 units, against 17,827 units in the corresponding month last year, also registering 16% growth.
The figures indicate continued year-on-year expansion in the company’s larger commercial vehicle business, although the monthly sales release does not establish whether the growth was driven by fleet replacement, infrastructure activity or other factors.

Domestic Stability and International Expansion Shape October Performance
October’s sales performance highlights the different contributions of Tata Motors’ domestic and international operations.
The domestic market accounted for approximately 83.5% of total commercial vehicle volumes, continuing to form the backbone of the company’s business. International sales represented around 16.5%, compared with approximately 6.5% in October 2025.
The increase in international contribution is particularly significant because it helped overall volumes grow at more than twice the rate of domestic sales.
At the same time, double-digit growth across all reported domestic categories suggests a broadly positive month for the company’s commercial vehicle portfolio.
For Tata Motors, the October figures reflect a combination of steady domestic expansion and considerably faster overseas growth. Whether that momentum continues will depend on demand across its markets in the coming months, but the latest results demonstrate how international operations can increasingly influence the performance of one of India’s major commercial vehicle manufacturers.
