NEW DELHI: Kia India recorded its highest-ever monthly sales since entering the Indian market, dispatching 32,017 vehicles in September 2026, a 41% increase from 22,700 units in the same month last year.
The record September performance also helped the automaker post a strong third quarter. Kia India reported sales of 89,259 units during Q3 2026, up 38.5% from 64,443 units in the corresponding quarter of 2025.
For the January-September 2026 period, the company’s cumulative sales reached 253,008 units, compared with 206,582 units during the same period last year, representing growth of 22.5%.
The Seltos and Sonet continued to be the company’s main volume drivers. According to Kia India, the Seltos has averaged more than 10,000 units a month since its launch in January, while the Sonet has continued to contribute strongly in the sub-compact SUV segment.
The company’s broader family-vehicle portfolio includes the Carens, Carens Clavis and Clavis EV, giving Kia a presence across both internal-combustion and electric powertrains.
Kia said the Syros EV has also been gaining demand momentum as customer interest in electric mobility expands. The model adds another electric vehicle to the company’s portfolio and is positioned for a range of everyday mobility requirements.
Meanwhile, the newly launched Kia Sorento, available in India with diesel and hybrid powertrain options, has received what the company described as an encouraging customer response.
The Sorento is also part of Kia India’s wider multi-powertrain strategy. Alongside the recently launched Carens CNG and Carens Clavis CNG, the company is now seeking to offer customers a broader mix of petrol, diesel, CNG, hybrid and electric vehicles.
For buyers, that increasingly means choosing not only between models and trim levels, but also between an expanding alphabet of powertrain options — ICE, CNG and EV among them.
Kia India is also supporting its electric-vehicle portfolio with ownership programmes aimed at addressing purchase cost, battery assurance and resale-value concerns. These include the Assured Buyback programme, Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) and Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty.
Commenting on the performance, Atul Sood, Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Kia India, said, “Our strong performance in September and across the third quarter reflects the continued trust of our customers and the strength of Kia’s evolving portfolio. The Seltos and Sonet continue to be key contributors to our growth, while the strong response to the Sorento and Syros EV reinforces our strategy of expanding into new segments and powertrain categories in line with evolving customer aspirations. As mobility needs become increasingly diverse, we are focused on providing meaningful choice across conventional, CNG, hybrid and electric powertrains, supported by ownership solutions that address real customer needs. We remain committed to building on this momentum through distinctive products, advanced technologies and differentiated experiences designed around the needs of Indian customers.”
Kia India has also continued to expand its retail and service network. The automaker currently has 915 touchpoints across 425 cities, extending its sales, service and ownership support across both major urban centres and emerging markets.
Its network is complemented by 137 Certified Pre-Owned outlets, which support used-car transactions, exchanges and payments for customers.
The September record and double-digit growth across both the quarter and the first nine months of 2026 underline the importance of Kia’s core SUV models while also showing how the company is broadening its strategy beyond conventional petrol and diesel vehicles. With CNG, hybrid and electric options increasingly entering the mix, the next phase of competition in India’s passenger-vehicle market may depend as much on powertrain choice as on the badge on the grille.
