Toyota India Sells 28,218 Units in September 2026; Jan-September Sales Grow 8%

Bengaluru: Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reported sales of 28,218 units in September 2026, comprising 25,027 units in the domestic market and 3,191 units in exports, as the automaker entered India’s crucial festive sales period.

For the first nine months of calendar year 2026, Toyota’s cumulative sales increased 8% year-on-year to 2,94,914 units, compared with 2,72,824 units during January-September 2025.

The growth was driven primarily by the domestic market. Toyota sold 2,69,619 units in India between January and September 2026, up 9% from 2,47,081 units in the corresponding period last year.

Exports, however, moved in the opposite direction. The company shipped 25,295 units overseas during January-September 2026, down 2% from 25,743 units a year earlier.

Commenting on the sales performance, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “September witnessed continued customer interest across segments, supported by our focus on quality, durability and reliability. As we enter the festive season, we remain committed to strengthening customer engagement and working closely with our dealer partners to deliver enhanced mobility experiences and address evolving customer needs.”

The figures indicate that Toyota’s growth so far in 2026 has been firmly anchored in domestic demand, which more than offset the modest decline in exports. In other words, the home market did most of the heavy lifting while overseas volumes took a small breather.

The timing is significant as India’s festive season traditionally brings heightened activity across the passenger vehicle market, with manufacturers and dealerships looking to convert increased showroom traffic into deliveries.

With nearly 2.95 lakh vehicles sold during the first nine months of 2026, Toyota enters the final quarter with domestic volumes running ahead of last year’s levels. How that momentum holds through the festive months will help determine the company’s full-year performance in an increasingly competitive Indian passenger vehicle market.
